The Thank You post by Yam got me "thinkin'"(which according to my wife could be dangerous), I stumbled across Blade Forums when I had an office job back in the late 90s.

When it got slow at work,(and the boss was outta town), I'd start researching my knife collection, I already picked up and read every knife mag in existence, I owned several of the books by Levine, Stewart & Richie, Parker, And a host of others.

I'd visited every knife store in a hundred mile radius, whenever I traveled, I'd pick up the phone book and look under "Knives", "Cutlery Stores" and go visit them.

Than one day during lunch, I just typed the word "knife" into the Lycos search engine on my work computer and BAM 12,000+ hits came up.

I filtered through the obviously stupid references, and came upon blade forums.com, I clicked on the link, and the next thing I know I'm transported to a world where I'm not a weirdo Edited cause I am a weirdo , there exist others like me.

Well the next thing I know the security guard was asking me if I was gonna be much longer, I had been on the site for nearly 4 hours, I lurked for a while, than I signed up for a basic membership, after a year I realized how much I got off of this site and I bought a Gold Membership.

Fast forward to today, and I still learn something new everyday, and find I still can spend hours in here, but now I have something to give back.

To quote the Talking heads, can you answer the question,"How did I get here?"

I made a left turn when I should have kept going straight ahead.:D.

Over on Assaultweb.net Bossman(known here as Scott Fulford) posted a thread or three on making your own knives. I decided it was something I'd like to try, so worked through it and made my first knife. Started emailing him with questions through the process, and he gave me a link to here(I think in hope that i would annoy guys in shop talk forum, and stop emailing him, though he claims it was because of all the information he found here himself ;) ) I've been here ever since.

got into self defence w/ jiu-jitsu about 8 years ago, started collecting knives when i was bout 11. Bought my first gerber E/Z out and that started the knife fever. Found this place when i was looking for the origins of a knife my grandfather had ( still looking and am going to post a pick one day ) Im trying to soak in some of the knowledge that all of you have.

I was at 1sks and saw the bladeforums t-shirts. So, out of curiosity, I punched in the url from the shirt. I've been regretting that day for some time now  :D

Well, there I was on Broadway just as ordinary as can be when there was this sudden nuclear blast just down by the corner with Main Street. Following the official government instructions I learned on the official goverment website about such things, http://www.ready.gov, I made a left at the corner and the rest, as they say, is history.

My wife got me a SS Spyderco Native last year for my birthday. I had been collecting traditional pocket-knives (Case, Winchester, Remington) since I was about 16 yrs. old. I was very impressed with the design and quality of the Spyderco knife, and I wanted to see what other models were available. So, I typed Spyderco into my search, and eventually made my way here. I really enjoy this forum and appreciate all of the knowledge and information I have received over the past 8 months.

I did the same thing as T. Erdelyi, only I found one of Cliff's early reviews and followed the link here. I now have a lot less money and a lot more steel.

About 4 years ago I was looking for knives for processing elk and stumbled across Bladeforums using an Altavista search. I had found my people.

I was in the "other" forum and there was a comment and a link to over here.I liked what I read and joined up. I feel that you can't have too many views and opinions. The more info the better decisions you CAN make.

I've always been into knives since I was a little kid. When I was about 16 I bought one of the cheaper Benchmade balisongs and a balisong book at a knife shop. I learned a little bit of flipping from the book, but never got serious about it. About 4 years later I started getting into flipping my balisong again. I typed in balisong at Yahoo and among the links was one to a the balisong forum here on BFC. Been on this site ever since.

It´s inevitable, if you often search the Web for information on knives, steel, sharpening, etc. you´ll stumble across here.

You´ll start reading and learning, and then you´ll want more and join.

A UFO dropped me off several decade ago and I am still waiting for them to beam me up.....

...Oh; as far as the forums go, I stumbled across our sister forum four years ago and followed a link to this site. It took me about two days to read every word posted on both forums (we were a bit smaller back then), and I immediately signed up to add a few words of my own.
