How did you use your knife today?

Everyone talks about what they carry, when and why. Now I'd like to hear how knives get used on a daily basis. Since I'm starting here's my story.

Today my home air conditioner quit working. Air was coming out the vents but it was warm air. I go out to check the heat exchanger(i think that's what it's called). What did I find there you ask? Well a plastic sack hand gotten wound around the fan stalling it. I turned the power off and proceded to use a new to me Queen amber carved stag large stockman to cut the sack out. The good news is that the 35 year old motor still seems to be ok after being stalled not blown fuses or tripped breakers. That's my story for today.

p.s. I can't beleive I forgot this. I also had to dig out a rose thorn I got in my index finger. Good old clip point on the stockman to the rescue.

Let's see, I think the only use today was I opened the mail with my new Case amber bone CV medium stockman. That was about it.

Cut down a cardboard box to make two, to ship two knives I'd sold, then opened the mail; then cut my sandwich in half at work.

Today I carried my new SAK, a Wenger Forester that was part of a special run, for left-handed folks like me, it's reversed for lefties!!!!

I used the bottle opener to open a bottle of Yerba Matte tea.

I on average open 8-10 boxes of Fed Ex a day, opened my mail. Sorry to say, also cleaned under my fingernails and routinely open and close my knives out of boredom/habit ! Michael

Carried my old B Leopard Cub. Cut fingernails, cleaned milkstone out of stainless pipe in dairy barn, opened mail, cut tape that helped keep lid closed n some 100% Neatsfoot Oil for leather work. Same old thing.

Last week, I got a Case chestnut bone sowbelly off eBay and I've been carrying it a lot lately.

I used the spey blade today to remove a hangnail and shave a patch of arm hair while watching TV.

Sliced twine with the main blade to bundle up some rose bushes. Pruned them a bit too. Cut some duct tape to wrap around a leaky hose. Also opened a bag of bird seed, a package of cheese, and a shrink-wrapped furnace filter.

I don't think I've used the sheepfoot blade today. It mainly sees duty cutting cardboard and stuff.

Leatherman K500x cut fishing line twisted up on mower spindles. It also opened 8 bags of Lime I put on customers lawn. Oh, and .095 trimmer line on about 4 trimmers today.

Vic Mechanic was used with screwdriver a few times today. I believe the pliers were used one or two times today also. I opened the mail this afternoon.

Yellow handle Sodbuster Jr CV was used many times tonight while grilling out for the family. Cut up my mushrooms hot off the grill. Used it to slice open the meat to see if it was done. And for desert I used it to slice up a grapefruit. UMMMM good!

That is pretty much a light day for my knives. Some days at work can get really ugly for knives. Especially on rain days when the Sodbuster has to cut up the deer steaks on the grill at the shop. SHHHH, don't tell my wife...she thinks all we do is work on equipment those days. haha.

Used my schrade sw7 " switch it" to cut some fishing line, and open boxes with other knives I got in the mail. Just finished sharpening it before I read this thread-Joel

Today being Monday, not much. I packaged up seven knives for shipping which mainly involved the use of a modfied #10 Opinal (blade chopped down into a short Wharncliffe) for cutting out shipping labels, etc.

Used my Queen Large Teardrop to cut up an apple at work, and to cut up the chicken breast I had for lunch. Fiddled with it like a fidget stick all afternoon in my classroom. One of my new soldier-students asked me what I was packing. Opened a package of pasta for dinner.

Opened the mail with my Victorinox Pocket Pal that I've had since I was 19.

Pulled out a bunch of knives to take pictures of after dinner. Didn't cut anything with any of those, though.

Yesterday I used it to cut and lay carpet. But today I only cut a blade of grass down the middle with it. Some days are easier than the other!

Today, I used my Kershaw Scallion to cut loose threads off of a rag that I was using to clean a film projector at work, cut the side of a box of mini chimichangas off so that I could use the box to heat them up, cut off some strips of velcro with adhesive backing, and cut open sample packages of Life Savers fruit gummies. Sometimes it seems like I try to find random ways to use my knife just so that I can use it, but is that really so wrong?

I cut vines away from my archery target with my CS vaquero grand. used my Hen & Roster stockman to scribe lines on hard wood that will be knife handles, and I used a SAK to change a bandage on my leg.

Yesterday I used my UKPK to open mail & slit the holes for the clips in some files (the type that's a card folder with pressed tin spikes that are held dwon by a slider arrangement). Normally the tin is enough to get though a badly sliced file, but this batch are barely marked with the slits for some reason, so the tin just folds up. The UKPK's pointy tip is just right for the job.
Mind you, it's time my Bulldog Whittler had some use so maybe I'll edc that tomorrow.

I cut some sausage and bread with it, when preparing my dinner in the local forest...
