how different are the Caly Jr. and Delica4?

Pretty different designs, the choil on the Caly Jr. makes for a difference in feel and balance in hand. The construction is also different, the Caly Jr. being pinned together, and the D4 using torx screws.

The Caly Jr. is also a flat grind, while the D4 sports a hollow grind, they really are two different knives altogether.

But which one is the better Spyderco? All just a matter of opinion ;)

Just a point of interest, the D4 has a saber grind, not a hollow grind. Previous delica models did have a hollow grind, but no longer.
But to answer the original question, the two knives are roughly the same length, but that's where the similarity ends.

Hi Rorschah,

They share some common features, but they are actually different designs that were designed for different markets and evolved independently.

The Delica is more of a mainstream market design. A do everything design that should serve the majority of the population's needs for a 3" locking, safe, reliable, high performance folding knife.

The Caly3 is geared more towards the aficianado ("afi's"). features like finger choils that let you get closer to the edge are a feature that fewer appreciate. features like wire clips, likewise.

Both models were designed, and continually refined with and for the customers that like or want specific features.
