My wife and I were having a snack at a Starbucks yesterday and I had ordered two of their hot breakfast sandwiches as I had missed my lunch. My wife asked for a taste of the egg, cheese and bacon sandwich, so I cut out a wedge with my Viele II knife. I wiped it as best I could with a paper napkin, but I could not get all of the cheese off. When I got home, I tried light machine oil and it didn't work and then tried a Marine Tuf-Cloth. It removed some of the gunk, but not all of it. Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the rest of the stains?

I'm not sure I understand, are the stains egg, or rust? WD-40 is my go-to product for getting off anything that isn't rust (works wonders on adhesive, etc). For surface rust, I use Flitz.

Hi FullerH, Joe's advice is dead on IMHO. Wd-40 is good stuff and so is the Flitz. If you don't have a tube of Flitz, get one and try it. I bought some a couple of years ago at the State Fair. I was not sure if it was real or hype. It is the real thing and I use it often on many things. It is worth the $$!

Nevr Dull is an excellent cleaner...IMO the best. Metal Glo will shine it beautifully. 3M makes a metal polish I use for clients as well. I have used this on blade also and I am pleased.

I have some Flitz somewheere around the house and will try that. Joe, my guess is that it is the cheese, but it could have been stains from the egg or the bacon grease. It is NOT rust.

I found a bottle of Sentry Solution at my office at lunchtimne and used that with an old typewriter eraser that I had in my desk. It worked like a charm. :) How many of you have even heard of a typewriter eraser in this age of word processors? :) :)

I got battery acid on my Delica. Would Flitz or something else remove that as well?

Yea , Flitz is the bomb , could not find it in a tube though anymore , only a bottle , it's thinner now too.

I always keep a bottle of de-natured alcohol for cleaning of blades , such things as tape residue comes off easy.
Flitz helps keep things from sticking to the blade but... Flitz is not food grade so I dont know if I would use it on a 'eater' knife. :D

If you can afford breakfast at Starbucks you can easily afford a new knife!!!:D

Pit man, their sandwiches are a lot better and no more expensive than McDonalds' breakfast sandwiches. Beides, you can get the Stabucks' sandwiches any time of day. If you will reread my post, we were there in the late afternoon and the sandwiches were my lunch.

I gotta say, as a cleaner, nevr-dull has been working great for me. Excellent fire starter too ;) They say it will polish metal on the tin but thats a load, its just a petrolium distillate/solvent...
