well is their a way to stop paracord from fraying when its cut? i tried like burning the ends but then found out that paracord dose not melt.... asides from superglue is there any other way to stop it from fraying?

All the paracord I've ever had will melt. My only problem is getting the core strands and jacket to melt at the same rate.

nope not this stuff it just burns like a fire tinder. and plus iv de cored it for use in makeing lanyards.

Strange. Paracord is synthetic and should melt. If it won't melt, a knot would be my suggestion but I'm sure there's a better solution.

You must be holding the flame right on it. Try holding your lighter about a half inch under it while finishing the lanyard.

I also think you holding the flame too close to the paracord, all the ones that I have will readily melt if I hold the lighter a little ways away from the cordage. Another option is to use a small butane torch, they are much hotter than a lighter and will burn the ends really well. Can be kinda expensive though.....

Princess Auto has a couple of butane torches for very reasonable prices ($7.50 for the big one). Be careful not to burn your fingers.

You could also use superglue to hold the ends. And again, watch your fingers.

A zippo always did the best for me, not too close to the end of the cord and if the fraying starts to bubble make sure it drops clear.(not on your bear feet)

It should melt, just practice with the ends until you find the fight flame distance and melt point. You should be able to melt & pinch it into a point of hardened plastic.

You don't need to get any special torch for it, just a Bic or Zippo lighter, even wooden matches should work.

nope no melting just catches fire and burns.

Try this: Heat up the cigarette lighter from a car and when it is red hot, hold it about 1/8" from the end of your cord. The radiant heat should melt it without it catching fire. If it does catch, try again at a greater distance. This is a safe and repeatable method. Do NOT touch the cord to the lighter core, whatever you do.

Are you sure that's paracord, doesn't look like it to me.

A easy way to tell would be when your done burning the end and it cools it should be hard like plastic, if not and its still soft yet gives off a really bad smell I would say what you have is more like cotton.

That... isn't paracord.

Try working some shoe goo into the end, it stays flexible and should hold it.

+1 to that not being paracord.

Since it does not melt you can do a number of things.

1) I dont know the technical term, but you can wrap the ends with very fine string -like floss, and do it very tightly.
2) you can tie a figure eight knot. It is just one step beyond the most basic knot.
3) like others have said, you can dip it into something synthetic.

If it were me, I would just tie a figure eight knot. I am sure someone has a video showing this knot on youtube or something.
