hey guys,
imgoing to start my first balisong soon and i was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to make the peices the same. it will be sandwhich style construction so i need 4 peices exactly the same, im not sure how im going to do that?

Two options come to mind, take note that I've never built a Balisong.

Option 1: Have the handles water jet or laser cut.

Option 2: Take four pieces of metal the same thickness, and cut them all at the same time, then put them in a vise together, and sand/finish the profiling all at the same time as well.

I'd suggest something like:

- Lay out your pattern (including holes) on one piece
- Stack the other 3 pieces under it and drill one hole
- Place a pin through all 4 pieces
- Drill a second hole (I'm assuming you'll have a pivot and a latch pivot hole at least)
- Place a pin through the second hole
- Shape the profile of all 4 pieces at once
- Stand back and marvel at your handiwork :)

I've never made a Bali, but that's what I'd try.

Decker nailed it, though if you don't want a latch pivot on both sides, put the 2nd pin in a screw hole.

I prefer blind pivots on Balis myself.

Another variant to Decker's method: double sided carpet tape. Chuck
taught me this one. You do have to sand a little to get all the residue
off but it sure holds the pieces in alignment.
