How do I put an illusion of a blade edge on my metal?

Try using a dremel or drill with a wire wheel.
It looks like the same thing that is done with cheap japanese styled swords to simulate a Hamon.

Looks to me like it might have been done using a sanding wheel on a dremel & the router attachment. With that you can set the depth of the wheel on the router base & then just run it along the piece of metal, giving it a uniform sanding distance from edge to end of sanding area. You could also rig up something similar I suspect with an oscillating spindle sander where the spindle depth is locked at a specific height. Then you'd just run the metal piece perpindicular to the table top, pressed against the sanding spindle to get the effect of sanding only half way up the blade. Not unlike certain techniques used with wood.

I would just use some polish compound and make the edge really shiny, shiny always looks sharp.

looks like they were rough sanded lengthwise with no beveling done, I would go with the dremel suggestions
