Yeah, that should do it. A polished blade should be relatively easy to clean since it is so smooth. Just don't use a harsh abrasive if you don't what swirl marks. Depending on what the "plant matter" actually is, a more aggressive solvent may help. Goo Gone or WD 40 will dissolve most gunk that won't come off with water.
