For Christmas I got a pair of artic boots, made of a material called Kamik, i think thats the name, anyways they seem like leather outers I was wondering what I should put on them to treat them. Thanks. Geoff.
I am not sure exactly but if it is a leather I prefer Sno-Seal on leather boots. I warm it up and warm the leather then rub the liquid into the leather until it wont take any more. It usually takes a few applications.

If the boots have thinsulite or gore-tex material inside... don't use snow seal or any other product like it. The thinsulite and gore-tex will be ruined once the treatment soaks through the leather and into it.
I suggest you contact the manufacturer and find out exactly what the boots are made of and if they advise an appropriate treatment to winterize them...

Kamik, I bet you are Canadian. This the name for the company that makes the boots. Smooth leather boots benifit from boot dressings and Niki-wax. The problem with treatments are that foot sweet will not get out easily. Suede and nubuck require another type of spray.
Try TECTRON spray. It doesn't interfere with goretex and in a recent backpacker magazine test it rated best overall. I use it with good results. Use two treatments and ensure you let the first treatment dry well.
