If I remember correctly, the answer to that is shrouded by OPSEC. The blades are named after or in honor of people or places involved in the SPECWAR world.

Aren't some of them common knowledge? The D-AL is listed with who it was named after on the TAD site.

Thanks for the info. Who or what was the AR named after? If I stepping on your or Mick's toes just tell me and I will shut up. 
I absolutely love the new D-9 TAD has on the site. I am going to have to add one of those to my knife collection. I liked the MT-L and AR so much I sold my p-7 to finance the new toys.
