How do the blued blades hold up against rust?

Hi, I was just wondering if SOG has ever conducted a test to determine the protective properties of blueing. From what I understand blueing works best on high carbon steel knives. I am especially curious how a blued blade would hold up against rust verses a stainless blade.
thanks.

Hi Ed,

Bluing is primarily used as an anti-reflective material. You will find bluing primarily on carbon blades, because it does not adhere well to stainless steel. As a resistant to corrosion, it is not a significant help.

Hope this answers your question.

Hey Ed, thinking about SOG's BG-42 bladed X-42's? Who needs blueing then, right?
