How do they compare - Work Tuff Gear Knives vs Tops Knives

( WTG knives are done in small-ish batches so there's usually demand for them.)Nice knives, but at the same time, its almost impossible to get one because of this, you have to really search and sometimes pay a premium.Or know when the next drop is. At least Tops are easily and readily available.I hate these short runs then break the mold crap! They might as well not even exist.

Are WTG knives made directly by them or is it a Reiff/Queen type deal where its "somewhere" in the USA? Basically contracted out.

As far as I know, WTG handles everything pertaining to the production of their knives, with the exception of the heat treat.

Maybe Revolverrodger Revolverrodger can weigh-in.

*That being posted, Victor Lin and WTG produce some outstanding knives. My "Kodiaks" are some of my FAVORITE blades.

Dlt has plenty available at the moment 🤌🏼

Says on dlt that they are made in Taiwan if that helps
Oh wow I was going to say thats not great, but I see its Taichung Tawian...Some of the nicest knives I own (Spydiechef included) were made there....they know what they are doing when it comes to blades. It would be interesting to learn some of the history that city has with bladesmithing as they seem pretty highly regarding and represented on the world stage as far as cutlery.

WTG makes their knives in house. The heat treat is done by a professional Heat treatment service
👍

I have a number of Tops Knives including an El Chete and Tracker and I have no Work Tuff Gear knives. I was wondering how the large Work Tuff Gear Knives compare. For whatever reason I don't see many comparisons around between these two companies, unless I missed them. I would think SK-85 would be a similar carbon steel to the 1095 that TOPS uses, obviously the heat treatment is key and all my Tops Knives seem to have stellar heat treatments. What are some of your thoughts on how the large knives from Work Tuff Gear and Tops Knives compare?
I own a few of both 10 tops 25 wtg. My wtg holds better edge. Takes a better edge. And in most cases over all better grinds tops thicker knives more like sharpened pry bars vs my wtg except in zd30 zabo express and rapid strike my most carried tops. Jmho
