I am basically building a mini Forge which have a very small space of for 1 or 2 9 inch knife . prefer to be one of the mini Gas Tanks or a 8 fire brick stack up .

Yesterday i went Burner hunting and found a few but the Flame is kinda Long .

here some photo some look weak - and found some parts . was thinking to build one myself or get one and modify it .

need suggestion on what is best for a Forge ,

This one look really nice to me but the flame is kinda very Long , am worrying if it too long or large for the mini forge i wanna make any advice ?

This one look kinda weak and i see that guy having a hard time trying to adjust it to get it to combust well .

Some parts that i can get cheaply if i were to build one myself

Thanks Emphasiski

I seen one of it while i was searching the Net , would like more input

focusing on Stable and Even Output so that the Knife cna get even heat all over when is place in the Forge

I am also thinking Would 1 Head be better or Multi Head like 2 or 3 Burner .

That depends on the size of your forge. Mine is made from an old propane tank, and although I'm STILL waiting on my burner kit from Ellis refractory/custom knives, I'm pretty sure one burner will be enough. SO I don't know from experience, I'm positive it will be enough.

You might be able to get a good even heat through your forge, depending on the angle that the burner is shooting the heat in, you want a good swirl, so the burner shouldn't aim straight in and on the place the steel rests. Of course, as I've said, this is not from experience. Just from what I've read and what I plan on doing when I get my burner.

Hm... to say that not aiming directly at the Blade make me start to ponder .

if oven space is small and the flame is kinda huge is kind a hard to steer it away from direct contact . is there any diagram . i understand that buying off the market would be easy , but i enjoy building it by myself partly cos i get to understand the tools and stuff i use so i can improve the result of what i produce .

Thanks Emphasiski :) your input is great

sharpen your knowledge

You need to do some reading. Ron Reil, I think, has a ton of info on the ABANA website. Get a real Venturi for each burner off a junk furnace. Your local HVAC shops will have a ton of them out in the back yard. Ask nicely.

And be sure to mount the regulator at the tank, not just outside the forge. I know it is not as handy but piping is not built to withstand tank pressure.

You guys had be Super with all the great advice , i will be Doing more research . and gather more info . i might just try a hand on building my own Burner . with the info i get .

i am seriously thinking about this large burner .
but i wonder if it going to be too big for the small Forge i want build . basically i am working on small knife to start with which have blade between 2"-5"

would a Square interior be better or a round interior - i was trying to imagine if the heat is stable inside the forge .

any info or drawing about the interior theory

The round interior would be best, to create that swirl of the heat. I asked the same question a few weeks ago about a square forge.

any good angle for the torch to be place . - when it have a round or oval interior .

i am also trying to see if i can make a 2 size interior that allow me to adjust the size of the forge . with adding or removing a fire brick
