How do you carry your 110/111?

I tried the horizontal carry, but it didn't work for me. I carry my cell phone on the same side in front of the sheath and can't get the knife out that way. I tried the cell phone behind, but that didn't work for me either.:thumbdn:

I figgered you cut your ear when you tried to answer the flip phone and grabbed the 110 instead. :D

Several forum members make nice sheaths. One on here regularly is Rudderjt, he won't toot his own horn but I will. I only have one 110 old near mint 5 version, so it stays at home. I do carry a 112 some when out in the "BIG" woods in one of his sheaths and I have several for my 'other' knives. 300

...In German it's called a holdzjagerfromfloppin sheath.

...

Never heard about a "holdzjagerfromfloppin" sheat (what means "woodhunter"fromfloppin in German) and never saw something like this, except something similar for a little fixed blade, the BlackJack Small. But it looks very good, I´ll ask a friend who works with leather if he would make something like this for me.

But today I´ve found a TAD-OS Sheat in my drawer and testet it. The 110 fits very well in it and it´s very comfortably to wear. Not the style of this classy knife, but very practical. I think, that´s the best way for me - maybe I will get used to this sheat hanging from my belt.

Another good place is the folding rules pocket at the side of my carpenters-guild trousers. And the style of that one is allright with the 110. ;)

I have thought about doing this before, but I did not know what to do with the button on the sheath.

What did you do, cut it out? Do you have any pics?

Thanks,
John

I´ve made the something like that with a fixed blades sheat, whose belt loop was conversed to a flap with a button. I´ve turned the belt loop back where it belongs, cut the button out and sticked a punched, round piece of leather over the hole with some glue. Another way would be to cut out the "male" button from the flap and clip it to the "female" button on the sheat.

I like this setup for carrying this Cabela's 110 and the 560 shown below.
Both are from Steve Rice, STR.

Oh wow!!! Do I feel bad. Really.
I just looked at your post info and you are from Germany.
It's just a name I made up from a silly American joke about bras. I used "jager" as the 110 model name is "Hunter". No disrespect intended.

Reminds me of when I was away working for awhile and I came back and saw a lady I hadn't seen in months. Asked her when her baby was due (recalled she was pregnant before I left).
She replied, "my baby was born two months ago". :o

Saw this type of sheath in an A.G. Russell catalog for a small fixed blade. Jack from this forum made one for Hawkeye and I. I liked it so much, I asked for another.
Here's the link to the thread that started it: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6138406#post6138406

I'll shut up now...

I must also add my appology By-Tor . Did not even look where you were from.
Was just playing with the Goose. Jack does make a great sheath and was crowing about that.;)
Welcome to the forum.

By-Tor, welcome to the forum. Some of us spent time in your country paid for by the U.S. Government. I was in Celle and Neu Ulm.

I´ve got a little question to all of you carrying a 110 or 111 for EDC. Do you use a leather sheat or is it in one of your pockets?
Regards

Hi Tor,

Well I mostly carry my 110 in my right hand....you see I'm right handed and don't like to carry that big of a knife in my weak hand. I do have some sheets of leather to craft stuff from. But, no I don't carry my 110 on a sheet of leather:rolleyes:....LOL. Sorry I just had to be a smart ass:D:p;)

When I don't have the 110 in hand, it rides on my hip in one of Jack's sheaths. A few years ago 334Dave put a rubber handle on a 110 and sent it around the country for us to try out:cool:. One of the forum members "Jack" made an open top leather sheath for it, just before it was sent to me for a test drive. I liked the sheath so much I had Jack make one for me....I have had a 110 in Jacks rig ever since .

I like the name the Goose gave the holster he helped design.....
Holdzjagerfromfloppin, but since I don't speak German and do live in the Southwest, around these parts we call it HoldzjagerfrumfloppinBueno. I carry my Buck 110 in one as well.

My 110 rides in a RudderJT as well. I requested it undied, and its gotten itself quite a bit darker now, but here are some older pics:

I typically make my own sheaths for my 110s. I watched my father wear 20 years worth of 110 shaped holes in his front pockets from a combination of a large heavy knife, sweat, and spending all day on his hands and knees finishing concrete. Once I started dabbling in leather work 5 or so years ago. A sheath for his 110 was probably my first project.

I've made him a couple of friction fit clip on sheaths. One is for "go" and is plain timber brown with a brass rivet construction (his sweat and belt line tend to wear out even triple stitched sheathes in a hurry). The other is a black one that is a little more form fitting that matches his boots and belt when he's on his Harley;)

I want to give a great big THANK YOU to the pocket sheath idea:thumbup: It's a perfect set up for me in the the summer months. Having re-discovered the 110 after several years away from the knife, it's almost a shame to have to go with a lighter clip on knife for shorts-weather. Now I don't have to:D I just made a prototype that fits my back right pocket. Blade side goes "inward" on the far right hand side. Wallet fits perfectly next to it. Scrap leather, snap rivets, and less than 15 quick minutes of construction:thumbup:

I'll fashion together a stitched version with a dye job and maybe some stamping or tooling when I get a little free time.

Thanks again for the great idea:thumbup:
