How do you carry your EDC?

I normally do the front, right pocket using the clip. After recently losing an Endura that way, I'm wondering if there is an alternative. Inside the waistband and back pocket carry doesn't really do it for me. Is there anything I'm missing? Quick deployment for self-defense is not as much of a concern as just not losing my new Military. :)

best regards

Try a horizontal belt sheath. I carry my Strider GB-TS in one at work and find it's very comfortable and secure.

I dislike clips intensely! I just drop my EDC into my front pocket with my CMG flashlight tied to my Mini-Prybaby from Peter Atwood. :D

Sheathes, such as the ones made by Gary Graley, are the way to go if you dislike pocket clips.

Clenched in your teeth by blade is also an option, but not recommended.

The sheath idea is a great one, but I don't like to advertise that I have a knife on me.

Maybe a River City Neck Sheath?

I would also suggest giving IWB another try -- move it around and see if you can find a good spot; I've got a short torso (along with most everything else), but I have no problems wearing a small CRKT Crawford Casper folder, IWB, just off the right rear pocket.

I just recently aquired a Maxpedition M1 waist pack. Great little device which I plan to wear on my belt. I've been experimenting with what I might regularly carry in there, it can hold an amazing amount of stuff for it's size, almost Tardis like.

At the moment, among other stuff, I have in there:

Small Sebenza
Leatherman Micra
Rainbow Chive
Inova X1
Swiss Card

Easy to carry, easy to get to.

buck nxt left front pocket clipped to the top of the pocket, crkt bear claw, right pocket either in jacket or pants

If your worried about losing your EDC when clipped get a SOG X42 Autoclip

It has an adjustable clip, you adjust the clip tension by turning a thumb wheel, when it's cranked down it's impossible to pull it free without releasing the tension, you adjust the tension to a happy compromise of security and ease of with-drawl

My BM 943 rides clipped in my front right hand pocket, easy access.

BTW I carry a Pat Crawford One Hand Opener in my RFP, A Gerber CF SL 3.25 in my LFP, A Dozier Arkansas Toohpick in my RRP and a few other folders sprinkled aroud the bottom of various pockets.

I carry my Emerson Mini cqc in my back right pocket, next to my wallet. It's behind me, I'm aware of it at all times, and it's easy to take out and use the wave feature at the same time...quite convenient.

Did your Endura have the integral molded clip? These are fairly easy to lose since the tension on them is so weak.

I find the steel clipped models to be a nice tight fit with jeans.

It depends what I am wearing - if a belt I use this little belt pack in which I put my EDC (normally Native III) and can also hold my mobile etc. Its only about 4" long.

I usually carry a folder in my right front pocket, or sometimes on the lower pocket along the leg on "painter" type jeans. If I want to be more discrete, I will usually pull the knife up an inch or so to clear the clip and drop it in the pocket, or I will transfer the knife to IWB. If IWB, I place it between the 12 and 3 o'clock position, next to the front belt loop. I also will blouse my shirt a little to allow it to hand down and cover the top of the exposed handle. When I'm behind the wheel driving, I sometimes will place it between buttons of a button up shirt, at about the sternum or higher level, where I feel I have better access to it.

I usually don't use the clip and just slip my knife in my right front or right rear pocket, but there are occasions when I will carry a large folder (usually my SOCOM) IWB behind my right hip.

It had a steel clip, but I probably needed to add some tension to it.

As for using a Maxpedition M1 or similar, thats an idea. But being a flashlight geek, I also carry a Streamlight Strion in a holster (untucked shirt over it), and often a small Canon digicam in its own little waistpack, and if I'm not careful I'll end up with a Bat belt. Carrying everything in a manpurse would solve the problem, but I don't see myself carrying something like that everywhere I go. I do use a Proteus on occasion. But thats for another thread. If I could just wear Royal Robbins 5.11's all of the time, that would take care of the prob as they have that little velcro-ed pocket.

I'll keep experimenting . . . Goal #1 is not to lose this one. :)

My main folder I keep clipped in my right front pocket. I recently picked up a Spyderco Rescue for secondary/utility carry, but I haven't yet found the right place for it. Back pocket is no good, because I don't like sitting on it, plus I bicycle everywhere, and I'm affraid to lose it. Left pocket carry is OK (clipped), but I keep my wallet and keys there, and the knife is rather wide closed, which makes it hard for my hand to reach the wallet/keys without removing the knife. I wore it IWB at 4:00, and that was great. Hardly noticed it there, it's very well concealed, it's secure. But the first day I tried it, I got some discoloring spots. They came out easily with polish, and I Miltec'ed it and wore it that way some more. I pulled it out after cycling a few miles, and there was condensation on the blade. So that's no good either. Maybe I should get a Pacific Salt.

Right front pocket..clipped, with nothing else in that pocket. Carrying a Rick Hinderer Firetac Extreme in tip up style.
