how do you carry your neck knife?

I just carry my spartan phobos around the neck to were it barely fits over my head. I would like to see some different ideas, so everyone share.

In a kydex sheath with ball chain just long enough to get over my head with sunglasses on. Tried paracord but hated it. Ball chain doesn't abrade my skin or absorb oils, dirt, sunscreen etc.

This is one of those trick questions, isn't it, like 'What color was Napoleon's white horse' or 'In what year was the war of 1812 fought'?

I don't... the thought of falling with a knife at my neck is unpleasant. Kinda like carrying my loaded, cocked revolver in a head holster.

Funny. I'd aim the sheath I pictured at my chest and fall on it. I have that much faith that it's not coming out or breaking. Now leather, that's a different story.

I don't care for the beaded chain. For starters it pulls chest hair, but so what, right. When I was in the army my dog tags broke several times, and they aren't near as heavy. Also on a quick jerk the chain can beak. Can't break 550 cord.

Yeah, my concern isn't just primarily the knife penetrating the sheath, or coming out... even if it didn't go through, inadvertantly (like in a fall) getting hit in the throat with anything like that, even still sheathed, would suck.

I guess I'm strange, but I think out a pretty wide variety of scenarios before making decisions about the practicality of what I carry. Neck knives just never have been my cup of tea, for a variety of reasons... aside from the obvious safety problem of having a sharpened, edged weapon at your throat.

Just as an example, I can imagine a scenario where, if I was a criminal with bad intent, I could snatch somebody's neck knife off and use it on them before they could, or even knew what was happening. Considerably harder to take someone's pocket-clipped or hip-holstered knife away from them before they could react.

To each his own.

Back when I actually had a use for a neck knife, I carried this HAK on a break-away lanyard. However, I only used it when I was seated. It came off if I was going to be walking around.

That's the reason the neck chain is rated around twenty something pounds strength. To avoid strangulation. I've been using mine for well over a year on my old dogtag chain from almost 20 years ago and it's still working. I'd rather the chain break and just have to pocket it than risk the choking hazard from an attacker or an accident with 550 cord.
Something to think about.

Were can I find a clasp of something of a breakaway/connecting point. I would like something stronger than the beaded chain.

Ant dive shop should have breakaway lanyards. However, most will break easier than a ball chain. A ball chain is the strongest option I'd consider for something hanging around my neck. After 30 years of active duty, I never broke a dog tag chain.

I usually just flip my izula into my pocket, or where it around my neck with a beaded chain

Around the neck... on off-brand Walmart bead chain.
I've never had an issue with breaking or hair-pulling.

Length-wise, it varies. I keep my Izula on the shortest length I can comfortably get away with to reduce sway. My BK-11 rides much, much lower to reduce printing and stays under-shirt.

Just a thought for those of you that do carry/wear neck knives. IF you operate a vehicle with an airbag (chances are pretty good) you may want to NOT have the neck knife on during operation.
Things do not stay at nice safe angles during a vehicle collision and if that knife rotates when that charge detonates......

I carry my BHK Frontier Valley patch knife around my neck when I am in the woods. Otherwise I don't carry them.

i ran a piece of paracord thru my izula sheath and then loop it thru my belt and stick it in my pocket

I wear mine on a bead chain looped through a piece of tan 550 cord that has the inner strands taken out. For me it doesn't draw as much attention and still allows the chain to break if it gets caught or if someone grabs a hold of it.

It is always under a shirt for concealability and to avoid someone snatching it and using it against me as G8R8U2 suggested.

YMMV, Rob

Well I have a IZULA, Becker necker, and a ESKABAR and I still have trouble carrying any of them around my neck. I just can't get a setup that I can get comfortable with......
