How do you carry your SAK?

I carry my Vic Climber in my rear pocket alongside my wallet. I would like to move up to a larger model (with more tools), but I am sure I will need to find a new form of carry.

So, for those of you who EDC one of the larger SAKs, how do you carry it? (Sheath, keychain, pocket, other???)

Thanks, -Alex

When I carry my climber I carry it on my belt in a nylon sheath. Very comfortable.

I carry my Huntsman in the new Victorinox clip on sheath. It is leather with elastic sides and fits well yet releases easily. This sheath is very similar to the one offered for the Leatherman Juice line.

When I carry my Champ I use a leather beltsheath, it's compact and not that heavy so I don't notice it at all, especially compared to my Wave+Tooladapter combo.

Alex,

The largest model that I can comfortably carry in my pocket is the Ranger. I usually carry a Climber when at work.
For larger knives, I got a cheap thin cordura double mag pouch at a gun show and cut off the tops. It fits the them up to Champion size, including the thinner locking models, and orients it vertically in my pocket which is much more comfortable. The knife pokes out of the top a bit and is easy to withdraw especially if you add a lanyard. Then, the other pocket is good for a pen, flashlight, whatever.

I don't carry the big Victorinox's becuase they require a sheath, and thats not something I am willing to wear.

Smaller SAK's like the Camper or Soldier just get thrown in the pocket.

Mine rides in my first aid bag, which is a petzl chalk bag attached to a belt/gear loop by a carabiner. I've got a CPR face shield, rubber gloves, prompter and an Ultra G in there, too. .

Anything past three layers thick is a bit too much bulk for me in the pocket. Any thicker and I'll go with a belt pouch.

I carry my Swiss Tool on a shealth on my belt. I used to carry those tiny SAK on my keychain but it got replaced by a leatherman squirt S4.

I've carried mine horizontally in a cordura belt pouch for years. The horizontal position keeps it more out of my way and leaves it less conspicuous too.

My preferred sheath for the larger SAKs is Eagle Industries' Folding Knife Sheath (KS-F). It's versatile, tough, and convenient. I've carried one every day for at least three years and it shows no signs of wear.

I carry my Swisschamp in a Vic leather sheath on my belt. It never gets in my way and sometimes I even forget it's there.

I EDC a Cybertool 34 in my lfp or lhp. It's too big for formal slacks. I'm considering getting a Compact for that situation.

Before that I would EDC a Swisschamp in my lfp or lhp. I admit that was before I had to carry so many keys. I also admit the Cybertool 34 was a welcome change.

Had the same Classic on my keys since I was 8 years old. :D

Sheath smeath.

I carry my Vic Midnite MiniChamp II loose in my left front pocket. That's my sheeple knife for public use. I carry my Vic CyberTool 41 in a belt sheath. My Vic SwissTool R/S is in my EDC shoulder bag.

Whenever I wear khakis or cargo pants, I use a Victorinox belt hanger for my Huntsman and Cybertool 34. The hanger just dangles in your pocket instead of letting the knife sit in your pocket like a rock. The belt hanger is godsend to SAK users everywhere.

I just use the nylon belt pouch that came with my crummy Gerber 400 multitool when I wear jeans. The size is perfect for something like a Cybertool 34, and is much more compact that most nylon pouches.

I wear a Victorinox leather belt pouch for my Tradesman. The knife is big enough that it sort of requires a specialized pouch. It slips onto a belt instead of clipping on. I consider this a good thing, as I’ve lost clip-on pouches while hiking before. Clipped on equipment tends to get snagged on backpacks waist belts and such. This particular belt pouch as very well crafted and comes with a Velcro closure.

The largest SAK I own is the Locksmith, which I carry in an AG Russell cordura sheath. I think it cost about $6.

i just traded my leatherman s2, going with a huntsman and clip on leather pouch, still need to get rid of my schrade st1 with sheath.
