Over the years this has become a bit perplexing. Back in the 50's, 60's and 70's, all the things I put in my pockets "cooperated" with each other. My old stockman pocket knife didn't care if it came in contact with keys or coins. Cell phone with scratch-able screens didn't exist. Car keys were simple and didn't have buttons that could be inadvertently pushed and lock your doors. Wallets were not thick with credit cards and my pockets were "in harmony."
Now days, my unclipped small Sebenza needs the entire bottom of my front right pocket all to itself. Coins and keys are not allowed since they could jam in alongside the blade. .... and since I have carried my pocket knife in my right front pocket since about 1955, tradition dictates a continuation of this practice.
In the old days, coins went into the watch pocket (after I changed over to a wrist watch), but alas, .... pants don't come with watch pockets anymore. Sometimes the coins just have to stay home since the cell phone needs the entire left front pocket all to itself to avoid getting scratched.
Now the wallet still gets the left rear pocket all to itself like it has for over 50 years, but there isn't room for anything else.
Right rear pocket gets the handkerchief and comb, (I still have some hair) and a man can't do without a handkerchief (especially in pollen season).
And this leaves the electronic key to my car, and the regular house key, and the unavoidable coins that materialize out of nowhere.
Cargo pants help, but are less than "fashionable" on a 70 years old.
Lately, I have been trying various clips that attach under my belt and enable me to suspend my keys inside my pants and out-of-sight. This system also has it's imperfections. ..... and the quest goes on. ... But as mandated my CRK gets the entire right front all to itself.
