Ken, they are a simple little brass or copper colored spring clip that I get from Ohio Travel Bag. I think the picture will be worth 1000 words. The clip goes between the exterior and the interior (2 ply, 2 oz) through a 00 punch hole and it is cemented with contact cement. The rest of the wallet components (pockets) are single ply 2 oz.
Also a shot of my "permanent pattern" since I wound up making so many of them. Please note the outside pockets are longer than the inside pockets and the inside pockets are installed with curve cut out toward the ends of the wallet. The outside pockets are curve cut out toward the center of the wallet. The bottom of the inside pockets is stitched down across the bottom only before the exterior layer is put in place. Final border stitch goes from pocket top corner around to pocket top corner. No stitch in the very center of the wallet.
Also to eliminate confusion, the photo below is of a proto type and only had pockets on the inside hence they are installed reverse of what I wrote. The photo's purpose was to show the clips and how they are inserted. See the photos earlier in the thread for the current style, and pocket placement.
