How do you choose your carry every day? Plus my collection!

For my primary carry there's typically no thought out plan, just whatever I feel like carrying that day.

Primary choices:
ZT 0550
Benchmade 520
Benchmade Volli

Backup:
Spyderco Native 5

Dress-up or Sunday:
Spyderco Chaparral 2

I've seem to have developed a bit of an addiction this year...http://imgur.com/xM4uQzx

From left to right:
- BM 710 SBK
- Paramilitary 2
- Blur S30V
- ZT 0770
- Southard
- BM 940
- Delica 4 FRN
- CRK Small Sebenza 21 Insingo
- BM Ritter Mini-grip
- BM 707
- Kershaw Chive

How do you choose which knife you pick up from your collection every day?

In descending order of frequency, I carry: CRK, Mini-Grip, 940. I'll carry the 707 when I'm dressed up and going out, my Delica 4 when I'm on the mountain and might lose it, my Para2 for camping. The ZT and Southard just arrived today, so I'm not sure how they'll fit into my routine. I actually prefer the ZT to the Southard, but perhaps it's because I really like the ZT so far.

Perhaps I just have too many knives...

I would say you have a very healthy collection relative to some of us here. I am sure there are members who would need months and months to get through their entire collection even if they rotated to a new knife everyday.

Personally I choose every morning depending on any special needs for the day, what I am wearing, how it fits with the rest of the gear I am carrying, etc. For example, If I am going fishing for the day I will take a beater. If it is hot and humid I will be wearing shorts so no heavy folders. If I am carrying my RUT then I have a thin cutter so I can complement it with a bigger knife. And of course I go by what I am feeling for the day. I try to rotate regularly though so that everything gets pocket time. No safe queens allowed.

I carry what I feel like. Factors I consider are what pants I'm wearing, whether I'm going to ride my bike and how much the knife can be showing (e.g. if I'm at the office).

I actually think about what I am going to do that day. If I am at work I will always take my Dragonfly. If I am dressed up I usually take my Dragonfly Nishijin, but I also rotate the Chaparral Carbon Fiber or Benchmade Sequel. If I am going somewhere unfamiliar I carry a Delica 4 FFG or a Benchmade Mini Griptilian. If I am in the woods I carry an Esee Izula in my pocket or a Cold Steel Mini Recon 1. If I am fishing, I will pocket a Benchmade Lonewolf Mini Landslide. I think of what my need is, then pocket that knife (though sometimes I will pocket more than one).

The day determines the carry, today I'll be in the hospital while my sister in law has surgery, in pa I usually cc a 9mm unless specifically told I can't, in Jersey I can't carry so today it'll be a Custom Bud Nealy Aikuchi fixed blade I've carried for nearly 20 years...

Being in in the hospital it'll be a light day, maybe I'll bring my picks and my Leatherman to see how much trouble I can get into... ;)

I sit in front of my knife case for a few moments and just pick one. I love all my knives so I try to spread the love between them all. Lately it has been my Hogue EX01 though.

For the most part, I choose like I am choosing which shirt to wear.

However, it can depend on the occassion or how I am dressed. I will carry heavier knives in jeans, or deeper carry knives to work, etc. My collection is not that large. I keep everything in a thin drawer in my dresser so I pull it open and choose one.

My edc knives...no choices to make here...the auto is in my car as it is the only one with a glass breaker, the 350 is in my back pack, and the cf in my pocket

I usually either carry an Emerson Custom 8 or a ProTech/Les George collaberation auto along with a Terry Guin Bali and one of several slipjoints.

I live in NYC, so my choices are limited as far as what I can carry on me (and feel comfortable)... so far its been this.
Right Under 3", no assist opening, tightened pivot so it cannot be wrist flicked, and I do like how it looks.

Nib, holy crap!!!! I have the green Buck Spitfire, but I'm thinking I'm going to need to pick that one up!! I looooove that little splash of green thanks to the green backspacer. My green one has an orange backspacer. I'll need to get an orange one also to complete the set. Gah, last thing I needed today was more knives to put on The Sickness List.

LOL, yeah, mini spitfire is very nice little attractive knife imho:)

Aaahhhhhh, the MINI Spitfire. I have the green fullsize. I am going to have to check out this mini, it seems like a great size for those who are wearing slacks or some shorts or wherever you might need a slim knife which still has good cutting ergos. Thanks for posting up, brother.

I go through phases where I carry the same knife with me every day for weeks or months. Then one day I just get tired of carrying it amd grab a different one. All of my "rotation" knives are within the same set of specs that I prefer for carry with the exception of my mini grip which is a tad small.

1 fixed slicer and a folder full serrated thats how I do it .I have a blade for any kind of cuts and self defence. latly I have been carrying my streetbeat and manix 2 full serrated.sometimes I cary a pm2 I have everone so I just grabe one that the g10 not blade steel matches my clothes and my pm1 spyderedge.they need to make a pm2 in spyderedge.sometumes I carry my brous threat fixed blade not the triple the one grind.its a very comfirtable nice knife.with that I will carry my spyderco rescue serrated ir police spydetedge or worker spyderedge.and I mix up thr fixed blade with a lumb tanto fixed or a mule fixed.I just allways have to have a serrated with straight edge.not a combo blade

It's getting harder as my collection grows.
Usually a small fixed, a folder, and a wild card.

To make it harder I have a flashlight addiction as well, so knives and lights have to go well.
Flashy knife= titanium /brass light
Rough knife = rough light
Blackout =blackout

I choose based on what i'm doing or where i'm going. The DLC coated blades for days that are hot and ill sweat a lot, the nice high end folders for going out on the town. The heavy duty folders for camping. The slim gentleman folder for slacks.

I don't really rotate. I have found that I generally like about a 3" bladed folder. Assisted opening is not a requirement. But I really like my ZT 0770CF and have been pretty much carrying it every day along with a SAK since I got it this spring. I really like the Delica also. Just picked up a Native 5 and will probably substitute it for the ZT from time to time. I really like it.

You have a nice selection of knives.
