How do you choose your EDC knife?

If it can be wave modded, I buy it.

Mostly mood, except that I often carry a fixed blade on the weekend and can't during the week. I often carry two, one small (SAK, small stockman, muskrat) and one medium (laguiole, toothpick, large trapper). The HR manager doesn't freak out about small knives.

For me these days it comes down to these criteria.

1. I need a flipper
2. I need bearings
3. It has to have a high build/materials quality per dollar ratio.

I am done with super expensive high end customs and production knives. Rarely am I impressed by either and my needs dont require a knife that can survive nuke to the pivot. I simply need the most knife for the least money while retaining numbers 1 & 2.

I carry about 3 knives + multitool on avg days. Usually a 3.5" folder, sometimes 4" as my main knife on my strong/right side. I usually rotate it out spontaneously depending on my mood. High end or low end knife, doesnt matter.

Then a folding karambit of some kind on my left weak side pocket. Karambits are my favorite type of knife and yes, I keep it strictly for self defense. Its just fun to carry and look at.

I always carry my Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite as the knife I use in front of the general public so they are not scared and for some specific tasks. Its my favorite knife. I have backups in other colors but I always carry this original one.

My multitool is either a full size Victorinox Swisstool Spirit or a smaller Leatherman Juice. I cant leave my house without a MT and really feel naked without one....same goes for at least one folder.

My wardrobe is constantly the same since Im not very fashionable so I always have cargo pockets for my stuff.

I carry a gun string side, Fixed blade weak side, most often a Busse BOSS Street or ABA. Flashlight in weak side pocket, one of Tmack's ultra-powerful green lasers (often) and a Scrapyard Scrapivore necker. extra mags, etc.

Folders just don't fit my self-defense needs very well. I feel much better armed with a fixed blade I can operate well with my weak hand.
