How do you clean an all metal folding knife?

I have considered an all metal folder for skinning and wanted to know how to clean them. Is it difficult? Someone said bleach once. Won't straight bleach ruin any finish? Thanks.

I would just completely disassemble the knife, clean the pieces individually, dry it completely, oil it, and put it back together. I wouldn't use bleach, just soap and water.

Take it down, degrease and clean with Simple Green and a nylon bristle brush, apply grease/oil/Tuf-Cloth/Ren Wax. Done.

full strip sounds like your best option, make sure you remember what order you take it apart in!

For my Sebenza, I:

1. Disassemble
2. Hot water and soap on each part.
3. Dry with hot air.
4. Compressed air to remove anything that's left.
5. Grease and re-assemble.

Cheers.

All metal isn't necessarily any better than a composite handled knife, in some cases the latter is preferred. Anyways, for dealing with any contaminant that can cause issues if not eliminated from all surfaces of a knife you pretty much have to disassemble and clean each part.
