How do you clean/disinfect your leather sheaths?

The only thing I could think to do would be
. . .
I got it ! ! !
Make the leather sheath so we have the cool, tooled, laced, old time, look.
Then
insert blade place keeper object with release agent on it and pressure stabilize the leather with epoxy like we do with knife handle wood.
Viola !
Huh ? Huh ?
;)
I know, I know :( . . . now we don't get to fool around with all those exotic leather preservatives and polishes . . . and that other stuff we suspect does nothing at all but the guy at the shop said we simply must have to put on the leather.

Keep in mind ethanol, drinking alcohol, and isopropanol, rubbing alcohol, are 2 different things. Ethanol is used in hand sanitizer because isopropanal can really dry out the skin but it's more effective and why it is approved for industrial sanitation. I believe it also stays on the surface longer as ethanol evaporates a lot faster. Isopropanol also burns a bit hotter.

Edit, I suppose there is the best of both worlds with a leather wrapped kydex sheath. Good looks and soft surface while maintaining a cleanable surface.

I am curious if a beeswax coating would be a lot more cleanable as it should be considerably less porous than plain leather.

.91% isopropyl alcohol is commonly available. It would disinfect the skin against an infection before taking an insulin injection. It (at 70%) and hydrogen peroxide (3%) are alternately used in pet deodorizing products for floors and carpets/upholstery. Dish soap and hot water are probably enough for most knife cleaning.
I mentioned ethanol because it was and still may be used in Purel hand sanitizer. But if you want a multipurpose cleaner/disinfectant that can be carried on short hikes it would be good because it can also be mixed with water for an antibacterial (just a few drops)and also an intoxicant,(at 3-10 parts water per part ethanol) some liquor stores sell 197 proof ethanol.

I have gone beyond wanting even that unobtainable lovelyness.
I want kydex or what ever Cold Steel calls that crap they use and put a nylon or other plasic liner in THAT so the edge isn't dulled while just carrying the knife let alone pulling it out and putting it away.
That was what was driving me to even consider leather sheaths; the edge dulling from fiber reinforced synthetic sheaths. Usually I just look longingly at my fixed blades and then grab a folder because I know I can get through the day with a seriously sharp edge.
Folder = no touchy with sheath.
