here's something to think about.

if we all take a minute to look at religion from an objective standpoint (which may be difficult for some), we will see that believers are what make the religion. without a following, a god ceases to have a presence. from this it follows that if a following exists, the religion is given validity. stop here and reread if you don't fully understand.

now, the existence of more than one religion automatically ensures that everyone is damned. even if there were only two religions, say A and B, they together toss everyone down the chute. A says that anyone who is not a member of sect A will burn. right, so all the B members are burning away... B says the same thing: anyone who is not a member of B will burn. so now, the A members are burning as well.

well, now the A's and the B's are all going to rot.

both of these groups damn everyone who is not a member of either, so the conclusion remains:
A's will rot, because they're not B's. B's will rot because they're not A's. everyone else, who may belong to C, D, Q, V, W, or even 96, will also rot because they're neither A nor B.

that sounds like a lovely little picture, and it can be applied to today's religions.
so i guess we're all going to hell, right?

No one, apart from God, can really live a good enough life to be "saved". God is all loveing, but He is also a God of justice. Jesus took our sin about Himself, so that the justice of the Father could be served, also, so we could be forgiven. Through one man, Adam, sin entered the world and through one man, Christ the price for that sin was paid in full, so we who are willing to repent and turn away from sin, can be forgiven. Those of us who, as you say, are wanting to do our best, to live right before God. But those who reject God's forgiveness, and continue in their own ways, well find that God is very unforgiving of those who reject the sacrifice His Son made for them. There is no other way to be saved, other than to accept that Jesus died for us. And just as He rose from the dead, we also, can have eternal life. Some of us well not even taste death, but well just be transformed, when Jesus returns for His church.

If we find that it's difficult to live right before God, then we know that He sends us His Holy Spirit to help us and lead us in the way of truth. For that reaon, no man needs to be taught by any other man. Rather we can be taught by God though His Holy Spirit at work in us. Thanks, JohnR7

This is a question I have already answered, but sense you missed the answer, I will give it to you again. There are four players as anyone who has ever read Revelation knows. There is the Beast, the Harlot, the False Prophet and the True Bride of Christ. If you want to pigon hole me further, that is fine with me, I attend Earnest Angley Ministries, and what we believe would be consistant with most Pentacostal beliefs. Although we are non denominational and the True Bride of Christ is made up of all people, tribes, tongues & nations.

Actually, what all born again believers have, is the mind of Christ. Our minds are renewed daily. We are given the Holy Spirit of God, to be our helper, our teacher, to lead us into all truth. So we have no need of any man to teach us. Our minds are renewed daily, so we can know the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. We can live free from all doubt, worry, fear, depression, repression, and so on. The Joy of the Lord is our strength. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, so His life, love, health & healing flow into us like a river of living water. That is why in the ministry I attend, we see so many people healed of just about anything, including aids. We have seen God move in over 1 million people's lives to bring about life, health, healing or salvation. (I believe that 2 of the 6 billion people alive today, well be saved.) Whosoever will, let them come.

Sense I have had to take up the whole post to deal with your insults, could you please restate in what way you feel I have contradicted myself? It maybe a little bit more productive if we could have this discussion without the insults, so I could have more time to deal with the issues you want to understand better. Thanks, JohnR7

The King James Version was updated fairly regular for about 500 years with no objection from anyone. Then about 100 years ago, people began to object to the revisions, so they began to give the updated versions a new name.

My Bible software, esp. the Strongs Concordance is only tied into the King James Version, so that is one reason I use it so much. But the church I attend is a KJV only, church. Thanks, JohnR7

Contradiction: An inconsistency or discrepancy.

If you trust in God to take care of you, and no weapon formed against you can "prosper" (which I take it you mean, "be effective"), then you have no need to ask anyone about Self-defense John. That's called a contradiction. An inconsistency, a discrepancy.

Mind you, nowhere in this thread have I said that God does not play a role in the defense of someone. Although I am sure that Atheists have defended themselves before, perhaps God helped them, perhaps not.

John, if you cannot admit that your quotes above are contradictory, there is really no sense in discussing it at all anymore, because then you become possibly one of several things;

1. Dishonest.

2. Delusional.

3. Illiterate, when it counts as you do not understand the definitions of certain words, you lack fundamental reading comprehension skills. The contradiction is there for you to see, because you refuse to acknowledge does not make it "invisible."

Now, you can come back as you once did and claim that it matters not if you were to be killed as you would go to Heaven. That's true in our Belief System, that does not however, explain away the contradiction(s) above.

You cannot come back with more Scripture and defend the contradiction because the contradictions are not the Bible's, but your contradiction. Therefore, any more Scripture you can come back with is merely an effort to further spin what I have just posted.

Again, a person who believes that the only Self-defense they need is God, and as long as they have God on their side, and that no weapon "formed" against them can "prosper," that someone being yourself, would have no need to contact anyone about defensive tactics...

Your first contradictory statement in the thread was about David and Goliath. Why did David defend himself against Goliath if Self-defense is "wrong?"

There was a weapon "formed," Goliath's Sword, and David did not merely rely on God to smite Goliath. David slung a stone and then after striking Goliath, used Goliath's own Sword to decapitate him.

God did not sling the stone that struck down Goliath, David did. God did not take Goliath's own Sword and cut his head off, David did.

There is more to this than a respectful, devoutly religious man... There is something missing in the way that he can simply say things that completely contradict each other and then dig up a Scripture that has absolutely nothing to do with what he is talking about...as some sort of "proof" that what he says is a reality that anyone other than himself could possibly grasp.

The whole Spaceballs/Mel Brooks thing is just about the most absurd thing I have ever encountered on any forum.

An idiot knows that The Jerry Springer Show is a perverse, exploitive form of "Modern Entertainment." If you need the Bible to tell you that the people on Springer are depraved or insane, and he is an exploiter of same, then you are so absolutely clueless it is amazing you can tie your own shoes...perhaps velcro tabs are in order.

I was flipping through the channels the other night to find some late night news and happened upon an episode of Springer. There was a "Man" on there that referred to himself as, "A Reflexophile." Someone that likes to vomit on their partner during orgasm. He then vomited on this poor excuse for a "Girlfriend" he has and then on the crowd.

I don't need the Bible to tell me this person is off his Kasaba Melon, it is Self-evident.

Sure, Springer is an exploiter of people. Just like the person who taught this poor fellow what the Bible is about.
