How Do You Decide To Tote Your SAK.

So how do you decide at what point you should move from pocket carry, belt case, or bag carry for your SAK? What is to big for pocket carry for most of you?

I've always hated the way a SAK feels in a pants pocket (except maybe the Classic), so I used to only really carry one in the colder months when I'm wearing a coat. That all changed when I discovered suspension clips. I've comfortably carried a Fieldmaster in my pants pocket with one, but prefer to keep it to one or two layer models like the Bantam, Cadet and Pioneer. The smaller models just disappear with these clips and it helps avoid getting them all banged up and dirty.

^^ agree with dhuntley1...

I carry up to the thickness of a Farmer vertically in the LFP without even knowing it's there using a Nite-Ize S-Biner. I like the S-Biner because you can quickly remove it when you need to use the tools near the split ring, like when turning screws using the flat driver.

I never belt carry, so anything thicker than that stays in the bag or drawer.

To what do you attach the other end of the S-biner?

Anything wider than 2 layers is too big now though I used to carry up to Craftsman in my pocket. I primarily carry vertical in a side pocket or next to my wallet now so I use a LM Pulse for more utility.

No problem for my Secretary, Bantam, Tinker or Farmer in a pocket. The Huntsman and one hand Trekker Go in a belt sheath.

The Only Leatherman I can pocket is the PST. The Wave and The Fuse go in a belt sheath when I need them.

Like dhuntley1, I carry my Alox Cadet with a suspension clip. Works wonderfully! I also use a suspension clip on my car keys. Keeps them from sinking to the bottom of my pocket.

I've found that I can have them stand on end next to my wallet (I carry a front pocket wallet) and I don't even know they're there. Farmer, Explorer and smaller are unnoticeable. Any bigger and I would maybe carry in a jacket pocket.

Never say never, but I'm almost positive I will never belt carry anything.

Depends on my pants and the day. hiking, I try to get everything out of the front pockets as they rub more, so then its into the ribz. But for normal day, normal pants its anything up to four layers. I have one pair of pants that are compact only. they are a bit more of a trim fit.

this would be too big for pocket carry to me. i carry a swiss champ in my pocket bout once a week or so

For the past 2 day I have tried the suspension clips. They have worked well. Day one I had my super tinker and today I carried my farmer. I have motor skill issues with my right hand so carry everything on my left side. I carry a flipper and SAK and the clip worked good leaving room for my keys.

Me too, except I can tolerate a One Hand Trekker stood behind my wallet, as well. Best way to carry a SAK, IMHO.

It depends. Sometimes I want to carry a kit, so that goes on the belt. Also, my Leathermen usually hang out there, as well.

I keep a SAK craftsman in my left pocket connected to a chain and keys. It's a solid, chunky knife, but it stays in my pocket and helps with maintenance on my floor. Good to keep chained around!

I carry mine by either a pocket clip on my custom versions from Syph007 or the suspension clip. For today's EDC it's my custom Ti Toolbox and the Leatherman Micra with the suspension clip.

I have the Vic belt hangar that comes with a short and long chain. I took the long chain off and have my SAK on the clip, then in my jeans watch pocket. This has been the best answer for me as I will not loose carry a SAK in my main pocket. They fill up with too much gunk that way.
