How do you display / store your collection?

All of my autos currently reside in cherry wood display cases, with red velvet lining. All my fixed blades are gathering dust sitting on top of the boxes those display cases are contained in. Same with all my manual action folders. At least I throw a towel over the folders. The fixed blades, meh!

I have an old desk where I keep my knives. Small folders in the top drawer, larger folders in the second drawer. Fixed blades and supplies live in the bottom drawer.

This is all that I display at any given time. The rest are hidden away in a closet out of sight. Of course it is the tip end of a different knife each week.

Some of my fixed-blade knives:

Hung on bamboo strips with magnets embedded (intended for the kitchen) attached to the back of a bookcase. I'm not entirely satisfied with this yet, the ones I bought don't have magnets that extend all the way to the end, the mounting screws are in the way apparently. So, when I have some time I'm going to redo this with a home made version using heavy duty magnetic strips I found at a local hardware store that I'm going to build into a custom fit piece of wood. The exposed screw heads and the gaps as it is now really sets off my OCD...

I made this little cabinet thing, usually hangs on my wall, but the lighting isn't great there for pictures. Has glass shelves and lights inside, hidden area in the bottom for sheaths and such. I like it because it displays them, but they're really just on shelves so I can reach in and grab whatever. Has a lot more knives in it these days, I had to move the watches and the fixed blades out. Probably time to build another one soon.

I have a vintage Craftsman tool chest that is pretty full. I used to have small piles scattered around the house. Now i can see the whole collection and admire them. It also helps keep them locked up away from the kids.

Thrift store cigar boxes.

I have a humidor full of cigar boxes. But they are all full of stogies. Hark! I hear one calling me to light up right now. ;-)

I do keep my titanium frame locks in a CAO Soprano's Series collector cigar box. Black velvet lined.

This is how it it comes new. ;-)

Most of my knives are users, so I just keep the ones I'm not carrying in my closet until I need them. I don't have any fancy display case, although I have been considering getting one.

Cbxer55,

Any of those fixies that are extra dusty and you want to sell, just let me know! :D

Just giving you a heads up. Prior to becoming a Gold Member here, I inquired with another Registered user about him selling one of his knives to me. Like you did, nothing specific, just letting him know I was interested. I got a warning and five point infraction by one of the mods. Only paying members are allowed to do so, far as I know.

No big deal in my book, just letting ya know. The points go away soon enough if you behave yourself. ;-)

Nah, none of my knives are available at this time. They're dusty, but eventually I'll figure out some display or storage arrangement. Wife and I recently went our own separate ways, and I'm still a bit discombooberated. ;-(

Once you become a paying member, you get access to Private Messages, and all bets are off. You oughta look into it, a basic member is pretty cheap for the freedom it allows you. $10.00 per year.

Cheap $20 storage unit I bought on sale from a local hardware store that sits on top of my dresser. It works fine but I'd like to get something classier at some point...

Sounds good, I had actually JUST paid the dang thing and re-read it. Guess it takes a day to update my account. Hopefully it slides!
