How do you display your collection?

I keep all of mine in Kershaw/ZT knife bags and some in hand gun case.......Always have 3-4 on my dresser to EDC

Lol for what some of those were selling for not to long ago (when the kershaw craze was on) I probably could have had a box with crk's.

Mine are in a safe.

I enjoy them by using them. If I hung them on the wall, that would not be enjoying them.

Mine are never on display unless you open my drawer. Pure functionality here. Just like most of the knives in there :)

I store all of mine in one of 3 safes and then when I want a certain knife ~~ then the games begin.! I get so mad because
of this but there are never enough hours in the day to try any kind of order in my Gun Safes unless I spent a couple of days --
plus find a system and put them all on my Computer so that I could find the one I want when I want it.!!! ***************

My wife collects Harmony Kingdom do dads and I have gotten her old display cases as she out grew them. They are all glass hex-sided and bench top mounted locking cases. The two small ones I use were $50 & $60 each respectively from a gift store that had changed lines. If you still have such stores - with 'collectibles' - seemingly rare these days - check with them for unused cases. They generally have all-too-little storage space and will sell them cheaply rather than stow them. One of mine has a lockable enclosed storage base which I load down with lead. EDC folders and sheathed user fb's are kept in a drawer, while the displayed fb's have their sheaths elsewhere. The original boxes are kept in a third area. We have seven attack cats and believe me, they can tell if you are allergic... just look for the bad guy who is sneezing and covered in cat hair. I now live in a safer area full of other old codgers - and we all watch out for each other.

I enjoy my knives - and having them within my easy reach is important to me. My few revolvers are locked away in a small safe - my fewer long guns are elsewhere. I retrieve them for range trips - it's been three months since my last trip. I am afraid that if my knives were locked away in a safe, they, too, would languish. Sure, where they are, someone could break the glass... what a mess... and I do have a security system, too. Still - firarms, except for CCW & HD, belong in a safe - knives not so much. Besides, I have more money in model trains than sharp & loud things. As I collect G-scale (Huge!), I cannot imagine anyone stealing them.

Knives are on the bookcase in our "den room". I like having them out. Don't worry about break-ins, I have 5 dogs...big dogs!

I see two distinct differences with folks responding here; collecting versus just having a bunch of user knives... I may be wrong though. :D Most of mine are users, some are unused but not safe queens; just collateral waiting to be sold or traded. ;)

Here's how some of my folders are stored:

Ignore the belt buckles and foreground knives; my display case that I built for my big fixed blades is in the background LOL...

Build in progress; all out of scrap wood I found curbside...

I use my EOTech's plastic cases (I have a 512 and a magnifier and they both came in nice pelican style plastic hard cases). Originally I had a piece of foam with cutouts to hold them all but I quickly got to many knives for that so I use thin sheets of foam, put a layer of knives then a layer of foam, each case holds about 25-30 knives. The cases are kept in my safe, I only have 3 knives displayed.

Actually this is good point but if I can't enjoy my knives than what is the point of collecting ?

I enjoy the fact that I own them and can drool on them whenever I choose. At the same time, I am not inclined to provide temptation to someone with less than honorable intentions at my own expense. I don't hang my handguns or long guns for display either, they are safely secured in a locked area. I don't exactly live in Mayberry (I don't live in a ghetto either, but it's just the same) neither do a lot of people.

The fact that a specific area has a low overall crime rate means nothing. All it takes is one time and, poof it's all gone. Having a wife and children is another consideration. My wife doesn't want to see over 250+ knives taking up space on the walls of our home. I wouldn't want to see all of her shoes, purses, and wallets hanging all over the walls either.

How do you display your collection?

If by "display" you mean "secure and out of sight," I use locking tool chests. ;)

...but if I can't enjoy my knives than what is the point of collecting?

I enjoy them more knowing they are safe and secure in my possession and not riding in the back of a scuzzy panel van en route to the nearest big city pawn shop.

Sweet collection! In the second pic, is that a Kershaw 1435 Ti Hawk third from the right? Or 1430 Ti Wild Wild Turkey?

Unless they are in a gun safe or hidden compartment somewhere, if someone breaks in while you aren't home they are going to get them. Granted tool chests might be a bit large and bulky to take but I even know people who have had large gun safes hauled out somehow. In reality my more expensive knives aren't in shadow boxes because I use them but even tucked away out of sight I am sure they would be gone. My tv is expensive and I am positive it would be the first thing someone grabbed, but it still sits in the center of my living room. Break ins are horrible things but if it happens to me I am sure there will be things taken much more dear to me than my knives, both in sentimental and monetary value.

What is the difference between safe queens and "collateral waiting to be sold or traded."

To me, safe queens are the non-user knives in shadow boxes, display cases and fancy stands; my "collateral" knives are stored in their original boxes or in the cases I showed pics of above. They're not displayed, fondled, or lightly carried.

They basically sit around collecting dust and it's easier to keep them as I don't need to trade or sell them but may at some point. It's complicated. :D
