One of the most well-thumbed books on my shelf is "The Ashley Book Of Knots". I strongly suggest that any craftsman should own a copy.

"The Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding" by Grant - has been my companion for many years.

Mr. Fowler, I use the same book, it's timeless.

One suggestion, make a "fid" it's basically a dull, polished awl used to help move the material around. You'd be very surprised how much this simple tool will help.

Please call me Ed.
Also the round stick with four sides numbered is a treasure! I made mine in 1956 and still use it. I have also made many fids and ground on may needle nose pliers and they are my cherished possessions.

I was in a wreck which resulted in 7 ruptured discs. One year of braiding taught my mind to communicate to my hands. (some will understand what I say) for those who don't I sincerely hope you never have to understand.
