How Do You Feed Your Addiction?

I ran into a problem where I ordered a few things, ordered a few more, and then forget I had ordered that stuff. So I placed another order.
It was great while the knives and gear was rolling in, and then suddenly realized it was the end of the month!
I got hit with all the bills and came up way short.
That got me into hot water with "the boss" :o
Please tell me, I'm not the only one who has done that?

I've onle ever done that once, it wasn't pretty.

I sell off some in my collection that are'nt Spyderco, or that I have no use for, and use the $ to buy a new Spyderco; and a REALLY GOOD CHEAP investment would be the Spyderco Tenacious!!!!!!!! You can really beat the $H!T out of these Spyders, and they BEG for more....They're allways hungry:D lol

wooden chicken, I am glad that I am not the only one who does stuff like that. I ordered a Helle Lapland then order it again two days later. Of ten when looking at knives, my wife reminds me that it sure looks just like one that I already have. She is usually right!!

I just got into collecting knives...and it is costly. But, as the original poster said, I do get that antsy feeling. I stopped by a dealer today for benchmade. There was no prayer I was leaving without something. Well ended up with:
- Benchmade 551 (second for me, first had 440cm, this one is 154cm)
- 5.11 Push pack
- 5.11 tac pants (which yielded me a free 5.11 knife...which sucks...but is also the second that I now own)
---
This is a police/fire/military supply shop I will soon be band to go into by my wife.

And...I did this while I have another benchmade on the way to me in the mail.

I know the feeling well! I have 4 new ones on the way to me as I type this. A Military S90V that I ordered yesterday, a BRKT Pro Scalpel II that I ordered months ago but was finally made and shipped this week as well as a Spydie Caly 3 CF ZDP189 and a G10 Leek which I ordered from FleaBay two weeks ago (gotta get to the mailbox before the wife). This should hold me until after Christmas.

The first rule of not becoming a blade addict....
NEVER BUY ANYTHING made by:

Jerry Busse
Chris Reeve
Great Eastern
Matt Lamey
Matt Roberts
Tom Krein

These are some of the most addictive blades on the planet and should carry a government health warning:D

I look for used knives at antique stores , thrift shops... Sometimes I find some real bargains.

I can keep my addiction for knife stuff undercontrol if I am alble to do three things.(1) I never want to buy a knife and regreat it -so I "hunt". I look at knife mags.Knife catalogs. Now this Bladeforum. All these threads that address "what knife would you pick if you could only have one...etc. Bingo! I'm now very interested in finding out more about this Busse I see so many like.I will take some time to research this Busse Co. gallery to deside which one is for me.(2) I will keep my HUNGER under control by working on the knives I have and making new leather sheaths (3)My family still comes first so I am forced to budget 50 or 100 this Dec. toward a 3-5 hundred new Busse.(this hollday is holding me back.)All the above is keeping me in check...for now.

I'm sane, undercontrol.Untill a moment ago when I saw a knife made by Matsuda. It is a "5mm thick heavy D-2 recorved Hamaguri convex grind blade with long false edge on back, 4-1/4" hand contoured laminated Black/Grey Micarta handle with finger notches"and it's a work of ART!Insane people spend thousands of $$$ for a painting that looks like a cat knocked over a bunch of paint cans and fought a dog to its death. That crazy. This knife is a work of art and it would come be nice to have if there was a nuclear melt down.I have to have this knife.OMG How do I feed my addiction? IT FEEDS ME. 5mm thick D-2... OMG

To stay under control I practice my sharpening skills on all days outside of 2 days that the UPS truck comes. Getting better and better. Think sometime around my birthday next year I will be getting a Edge pro Apex :)

I hunt for bargains on ebay, I feed my addiction with a slow iv drip.
