How do you feel about lanyards?

I put lanyards on all my knives. How else am I going to retrieve them when I throw them, mall ninja style? :eek:

Some yes, some no. I don't want anyone to be able to grab the lanyard and take it from my possession. I've seen it happen. It happens 'fast'

For me, it depends on the knife but they can usually be found on my small fixed blades and smaller folders(i.e. Cricket, Techno, etc.)....more for practical use than decorative.

Never really been a fan of lanyards myself. Always found them superfluous. Then again, I tend to carry tip down anyway, so the need is pretty much negated.

The only knife of mine (including my choppers!) that has a lanyard on it is my CS Pocket Bushman and that's just because you need to tug on it to disengage the lock. It happens to also be my EDC, but the lanyard doesn't play into it other than as a function of the locking mechanism. And yes--you can disengage the lock without one...it's just not nearly as convenient! :)

that's a pretty cool knife, too bad it's made in China:(

I got a lanyard on my camping knife, not what you would think though...

I thought I would like lanyards and bought a bunch on ebay but right now I'm down to just one knife with one.

For myself, lanyards are just another branch snag. I suppose it depends on your uses\environment.

Gotta have lanyards! Without lanyards ya have to get your death's heads inset in the grip and that's expensive!

Wonder why people feel compelled to make declarations about subjects that they know little about. :rolleyes:

Taiwan, actually, which is a socio-economic ally of the USA. ;):thumbup:

:thumbup::thumbup:

To stay on topic:

These are the only kinds of lanyards I tolerate. Only when using in situations where dropping my knife can make it hard to find.

I carry clipless, so lanyard is useful. Plus, if you wave them, it's important not to lose grip when pulling to wave ...

My Japanese is from anime: kawaii = cute, demo = however ;)
So, it might mean "however, lanyards're very cute, ain't they?"

@Kwon,

What's that CS next to the SAK?

China, Taiwan, Nicaragua... not that I have anything against any of these countries, I guess I just would rather buy american when possible. As great of a socio economic ally of the US that Taiwan may be, I'm pretty sure people in Oregon appreciate our support as well.

Wonder why people feel compelled to be insulting and rude...

Lanyards could be useful depending on the knife, I use them mostly for folding knife retention in pocket, or handling assist for bigger fixed blade or really small blade.

The new Code 4. It's a new favorite for me. Super slim and light. :thumbup:
