How do you flatten your blade without a surface grinder?

ILarry I hope you know I was joking about the man pants thing. LOL
Anyway I have never used a ledge myself and have not had one slip yet. As for the double sided tape. I would try a RV supply store. They use it for mounting vents and stuff like that. The stick carpet seam tape should work as well. I use it to mount thin non magnetic stuff to the surface grinder. The double sided tape I use is pretty thin at around 50 thou. Carpet tape is even thinner. Neither feel super sticky when you touch it but the surface area really makes it work well.

Larry I was just at a Ace hardware to night and looked at there double sided tape and the had some made by Scotch it was labeled as extreme duty 10# rating this tape should work just fine. They also had on rated for 20# as well but is probably over kill.
