I love how grippy the G10 is on Emerson knives, but for my life I can't seem to preserve the pocketsof my pants or jeans!

The G10 chews up every pocket on every pair of pants/jeans I own!
Are you all in the same boat or are there wonder pants I should know about?

I'm honestly thinking of just sanding down the entire clip side...
The only thing that deters me from doing this is the obvious reduction in value.
I use my knives, but there are times where I will sell to pick up another.

Decisions, decisions..

Thoughts and/or solutions?

lol i just made a post with the same question. Emerson needs to come out with a line of pants designed just to carry their knives. Or pants pocket protectors. :D

Hello,

Just sand the g10 that is in direct contact with the clip, not the entire side. Worked for me.

Have a good one,

Chris

get a knife pouch (there are some nice customs), sand the G10 side, get men pants (JK ;) ) or man up

I appreciate the responses thus far and have a feeling it won't go beyond what I've read here already.
I prefer to keep my knives clipped, so sanding is the route I will probably pursue.

Don't know how "man'ing up" will fix this issue, but I guess I can try mens pants from now on.

lol, yep i know what jeans i wore when carrying my emersons because the pockets are chewed :p i dislike the rougher g10 so i sand it down...
now i'm wondering if black duct tape under the clip area would help at all?

Tape under the clip area..

That may be worth a shot!

I've had the same problem on a few of mine so I just adjusted the tension on the pocket clip and now I don't have any issues.

I have knife with a G10 handle. Sanded it down only underneath the clip. My jeans are fine now. I would definitely recommend it.

I don't find the emersons to be very aggressive on my pockets. Striders are by far the worst pocket destroyers out there.

You should try messing with the clip first before sanding the scale - clips are cheaper to replace. Emerson clips use 3 screws, try removing the middle screw as that may reduce the tension a bit.

Very true. Also pulling the dang thing out 50+ times a day beacause your in love with your new knife will wear out your jeans. Relax don't do it.

I bend the clip out a bit to facilitate easier removal. Also, I use a lanyard around the pocket clip so when it rides in the pocket lip the metal won't wear at the pants material. The lanyard works as a buffer.

buy more jeans? have a pair around 12 years old now and the pocket is chewed up a bit from knives but doesn't bother me at all. looking to get another 12 out of this pair
