How do you guys cut your steel?

Enco bandsaw.

But I've done it with a hacksaw. In fact I did a 3/16" piece with a hacksaw, bench grinder, and files. You can imagine my disappointment when it cracked during quench!

I've used a dremel with cutoff wheels - can't really recommend it.

Angle grinder with cutoff wheels. Works not as good as a bandsaw, but beats the hacksaw by a mile.

angle grinder here it is a pretty fast way of doing it then to the belt grinder for clean up :)

I use a band saw, I also use my chop saw for cuting in to and cuting out the shape of the knife design. It is 10 times faster than using my band saw.

I use an angle grinder, but you have to be super careful with them. they will mess up in a hurry if you are not using a steady hand, straight cuts, and thin cutoff discs.

I use the bandsaw if I am going to profile it without forging and use an angle grinder to cut it off from the barstock if I forge

Hot cut hardy in the anvil if we'er forging, bandsaw or angle grinder with cutoff wheels if not..

cant believe no one has yet said a fiber cutting chop saw. I use that to cut to length then a vertical bandsaw to profile.

hack saw.... cutting through 1/4 inch 1095 sucks. especially when the edges are nice and work hardened by the sheering.

Fiber chop saw to cut to length, Dewalt portaband with Swagoffroad stand to rough profile.

Hacksaw, or angle grinder with cutoff wheel. If you are wondering, it is not possible to take a 1/32 deep donkey track created with a AG and a cutoff disc, out of 1/8" stock.

Bandsaw everything from 3/32 to 1/4 inch thicknesses. Then rough out the rest of the profile with used belts.
