How do you guys get your Emersons smoother?

Order nano oil. You will never use another lube after you try it.

Ultra lube white lithium grease from lowes and some of Benchmade's Blue Lube, works well for me. From experience, more is not always better, seems to just gunk it up. I use a q-tip as well.

I ended up using some white lithium grease as well. Smooth as butter now. Even better than the Tuf-Glide.

2 or 3 liberal drop of Militec-1 in the pivot area. Let it soak in for a couple minutes then cycle the knife opened/closed 20 times or so. Take compressed air and force all the gunk and oil out.

Repeat until the gunk is gone (usually once is enough). Take a gun cleaning patch or Q-tip and remove the residual oil from the inside components (stop pin, liners, lock face, etc.).

Remove pivot. Apply blue Loctite or teflon tape to the threads. Insert pivot, dial it in for your preferred level of tension, and let it sit overnight.

Put it in your pocket and use the hell out of it. It will smooth out.... the thick Nylatron washers are EXTREMELY smooth once the knife is broken in.

Don't lube it. Hear me out on this one. When I first started carrying Emerson knives, I got the gunk out and used some oil. The oil would leak onto the lock face and cause the lock to slip. So I decided to switch to grease and use just the TINIEST bit possible. Worked like a charm at first. Then I started to notice that pressing my thumb on the blade caused a tiny bit of vertical play. I didn't think too much of it, so I dealt with it. Then one day I waved the knife and the lock slipped again just like when it had too much oil on it. I thought "what the heck?" and tried waving it again. The lock slipped during waving again. Took the knife apart to find that the TINY amount of grease I used had slowly worked it's way onto the lock face over time, hence causing the same issue as before. Then I said to heck with it - Emerson calls their washers "self lubricating" so I'll run it dry and see what happens. I got all the gunk out and put it back together and right away I noticed that all lock rock was gone and the lock didn't slip. I also noticed that I felt NO difference in smoothness from when it had grease in it. I get the idea that Emerson knives like to run dry at this point. I've been carrying mine with no lube at all for almost a year now and it remains as smooth in action as the day that I cleaned the lube out, which is to say super smooth (smoothest I own).

Just clean it out and run it dry and keep on breaking it in. I also recommend lightly sanding down the pocket clip side. This helped make waving work better for me by causing less friction on the pocket plus I don't tear up my pants as much.

This is interesting.
I've never given one the chance to break in dry. It now looks as though I am going to have to get another one and try this.
Have been eying the A-100 and the Journeyman. Now I have to move on it.
What a drag.lol
Cheers

I use frog lube. Take it apart and apply frog lube onto the washers and u will get the smoothest actions on Emerson's. and u can flick it open with no wrist. I did it to all of my 8 Emerson's

The Combat Karambit won't "flick" no matter what you do to it. I don't know of any karambits that do flick, except for the Bladetech one that has assisted opening. But I wonder if the straight-bladed ones flick, like the Bullnose or the CQC7?

I could middle finger flick my commander kbit pretty easily.

Interesting, thanks. I don't have that skill. Man, that nano oil had *better* work given the price for it. Maybe it has little nano robots in it!

Seriously, though, lubricants with suspended molecular sized mechanisms are not that far off. It's called atomically precise manufacturing, or APM.

Just took apart my new 15, wiped all the shit off and hit all the contact surfaces with frog lube. Wow, it's a million times better. Also put some Teflon tape on the pivot screw before adjusting it to where I like it. Going to give my commander the same treatment when it gets back from EKI

No lie, but after a week of applying the polish in the innards of the knife, it has been extremely super smooth. Like custom smooth. Bet mod I've done to date!
