anyone have any experience with the blaze belts how good are they how long do they last etc. any opinions

I just used some this weekend for the first time. I usually used one 2x42 belt to profile out 2 blades out of 1/16" thick ats34. I profiled 8 out of one belt and it might still do one or two more. IT lost alot of the courseness that it comes with but still cut well for a long time compared to the 2x42 belts I was used to.

I use the Blaze from 36-120 and they are champions! I still use the Blue Zirc belts as well.....But the Blaze belts have lots of life in them.

I say buy a few and try them out.

Blaze belts are like upgrading your grinder if you've never used them.
I have a pretty strict schedule of use to get the most out of my belts. Fresh belts are used for grinding large flats and bevels on heat treated blades, when grinding these large surfaces on a hardened blade a fresh belt works best to remove the material fast without over-heating.
When the belts get a little worn I use them for grinding flats and bevels on non-hardened blades, they grind easier in this state and heat is less of an issue.
Usually only when they are starting to get old will I use them for profiling and other types of grinding where there is little surface area presented to the belt-this type of grinding can literally peel abrasive off the belt and this is one of the fastest ways to turn a new belt into trash. Under this type of use the difference between a new belt and a half-worn out belt is often about 3 minutes of grinding. You will get more for your money if you bevel some blades to get it to that half-worn point.

I don't have much to add here... I always have a few in the lower grits on hand and use the heck out of them. Very good belts!

Can anyone tell me how they compare to the 967 3M cubitrons? For hogging i have not used anything else.

One of us seems to be copying the other......

I love blaze belts but i just started using them. They keep on cutting for a long time.
I got my belts from Tracy good survice and always ready to help.

Blaze belts in the coarser grits are the cats ass. I have been using the 60 grit but have read about guys liking the 40 grits here so out comes my credit card soon to get some of those. If they are as good as the 60 grit then I will be a customer for life.

Along with the profiles I cut out above I just profiled another 4 that are 5/32" thick. Its starting to show wear now. To me that is an awesome belt. I used the 50 grit. I bet the 40 might just last a blade or two more. I am going to order some this week along with some 120's I am sold on blaze belts.
