Basically I was wondering why he was categorizing light weight as good when I see nothing wrong with some weight to a knife.
Thank you for the clarification. Most people would prefer to carry a lighter knife to save on weight and also because lighter knives = thinner, less obtrusive and more comfortable to carry. Remember, a knife is carried more than it is used and the older you get or the more gear you carry the less likely you'll feel inclined to carry more weight. If you intend to go jogging, walking or climbing then most people would think "the less weight the better". If you're the sort of bloke that only ever moves between the truck and the diner then having a heavier knife is not going to be an imposition.
IMO weight is important but should not be the sole deciding factor in choosing the appropriate knife for the circumstances - there are other considerations which will ultimately be more important
