How do you like your Sar3?

I had the same problem but I actually liked the thicker blade. I sent mine back with a note asking them to "just sharpen it". Well when I got it back it was the thinner blade :(. Now I wished I had just kept it and sent it off to have somebody else sharpen it. They maybe would've read the note. And to be fair I probably would've been okay wih the thinner blade but having seen and felt the balance of the thinker blade I just wanted that one. I just wanted Busse to make "it" right. That particualar one right soba sharper edge. Well I was bummed because of all the shipping and waiting and I reallly wanted to call Jerry. Was just too much at that point since I had bought and sent back a handful of others. I had sent the note specifically asking for it to be sharpened and that's all. Sosartre a while I stuck it my closet for a few weeks hopein to pull it out in a year or so and be happy with it. Jist kept bugging me and eventually I just sold the knife. I just wasn't happy with the whole process. And what's bad is that I reallly, really wanted that knife for EDC. I'm still kinda bummed about it but I still want a SAR3. Kind of a weird feeling...

Mine had nothing to do with the edge or sharpening of the knife. If it needed sharpening...I would have sharpened it.

Mine had an issue with the grind. I am really happy with it actually, because I got a (IMO) better knife out of the deal.

I like mine

I got one of the bad batch as well. I've been trying to sharpen it myself, but I think it's beyond my skill level. I can't seem to get it sharp at all.

One of my best EDC's, doesn't freak people out where ever I wind up and does just about anything that's needed.

Agree with you that the Vex is the best in that size for ergonomics. So simple in appearance, but it just becomes a part of your hand. However, I do love my SAR-3 and it doesn't rust up like the Vex. The satin, jimping, nulcear meltdown edges... all wonderful extras. It is really a fantastic blade.

Honestly, I love it as I love all my Busse children, but I favor my Vex for almost all chores the SAR-3 does. I can't EDC a fixed blade, so its smaller size doesn't help. Mine never gets much use, so sadly I might let it go. ***sighhhhh*** but I do love it.... :D

If you ever have a serious problem like that, it is best to call jerry or garth directly, talk to one of the girls and explain everything and they will likely point you in jerry/garths direction. Since it's a large production shop that seems to have somewhat variable communication, some of the specific request details get lost in translation. If you have the capital for it, you may be able to find another one of those sar3's by asking people to take photo's of the spine on their sales. As far as sharpening, I would highly suggest getting a clamp or table type sharpener like the EdgePRO Apex sharpener. Having to ship your knives out will end up costing you more money than the sharpener in the long run, and you've be able to get sharper knives on command when you need them.

I liked mine a lot..... Then I got a BAD and the SAR3 has been sitting in a drawer ever since.

SAR 3 ? Love it......
