A sheepsfoot will be easier to grind down.

What about a spear blade?
That would be an even easier mod?

A sheepsfoot would be easier but kinda boring cause I have so many. And I thought of a spear but every time I imagined it I saw a really long pen blade which didn't entice me either.

I've used that useless Spey blade to skin several deer - keeps me from poking holes in the hide. Always good when you don't want to risk poking something. Wharncliffe puts a lot of strength at the tip, though.

Most of the suggested mods that I've seen involve replacing the spey blade with a wharnie. I'd actually like to try replacing the stock clip blade with the wharncliffe, leaving you a wharncliffe/spey combination. Oh, I'd also reduce the overall size of the knife down to about 3.75 inches closed.

I wouldn't change it. When carrying one of my trappers, the blade most used is the spey.

That goes for the stockmans as well.
I have to agree with this. For me, the spey is FAR from useless. I would certainly not get rid of it in favor of a different blade shape.

I don't use spey blades either. I like a sturdy pen blade instead, making it a serpentine jack I suppose. A wharncliff would be OK too.

I voted wharncliff but thinking about it a sheepsfoot might be better.
Nothing much wrong with the spey blade really, but a few different options isn't a bad thing.
