How do YOU make and use bannock?

Flour and water

How much water depends on how you will cook it

Boiling - stiff mixture for dumplings
Frying - looser for flat pancakes, stiffer for biscuits
Baking - Stiffer
Stick or flat board bake - mix it till it is plyable

Baking powder to make it lighter
Yeast to make it rise (takes time and is not fool proof)

Add anything you want
The restictions are your imagination

My recipe is to throw in a couple of hand-fulls of flower, a teaspoon of baking powder, some sugar, some raisins, some cinnamin (sp?) and maybe an ounce of vegetable oil if I have some handy. I mix it up with enough water to get a thick dough consistency and then bake/fry it in a pan near the fire. I make it for breakfast, dessert or a warm night-time snack.

I don't think it's possible to really screw up bannock....

Stay sharp,
desmobob
