How do you open an Endura?

My endura 4 is my EDC beater and as such it has been through hell and back. I flick it quite hard, have done so thousands of times, and still locks up perfectly

I have three E4's and a bunch of E2's and E3's and never had such a problem. I don't really wrist flick them open, because they open easily, esp. the E4's. When I thumb them open, the action is smoothe and lightning-quick, almost like an auto. No need to flick my wrist. Though I have tried a few inertial openings just for the heck of it, and had no problems with play developing.

I did not mean any disrespect, its just that there wasn't a ton of information. You either got a defective knife - which would be on Spyderco, or you got a used knife from someone using the Amazon marketplace. I can see Real Hard use wearing a lock out faster, but a few openings should never do that. Good to see Spyderco made it right.

No disrespect taken, brother. The knife appeared to be unused, but the Amazon reviews show that when ordering the SS Endura PE people have a problem with a Spyderedge showing up on their doorstep. (It happened to me...) so it very well could have been a returned knife that I received...but not one that had been beat up by any means...

I'm curious about this, why do people flick their knives out hard? It does cause extra wear

Basic human nature wants to go over where fence is lowest. Anything that might save even slightest effort is taken... Flipping is one of those things... besides remote controller...

Probably for the same reason they will wade through two feet of snow rather than walking ten feet out of their way to take a cleared sidewalk. I've watched people do that, but I've never figured out why.

My Endura action isn't really slick enough to flick it easily. If I loosen the pivot anymore the blade play is bad but I use the Wave feature all the time and that hasn't caused any problems. I think waving open my Endura is as stressful as flicking.

I've had Enduras in SS and Militarys that I "flicked open" without any problems. For almost a decade.
These were older models though.
Are the newest ones made differently? Different lock steel or something?

I have a SS Police model, Mini Manix, and I had a SS Endura and I have flicked them all open a fair share of times and they keep working just like they where fresh from the factory.
