Guys,
My collection is down to 3 ,Two M43's & a GS!:( I'VE GONE FROM RICHES TO RAGS!!:(SNIFF! jim

It's time for me to chime in.:)
I fully believe that Tsimi is telling the truth about being down to only 3 khuks seeing as how I think I may know him better than some of you other guys.

But this part enbolden is definitely Not True!!!!

I will accept "old" K's if you wish to send them,I...I... will polish them, oil them & send them right back! You all can trust me!!

Actually, like I've been saying for quite some time now, just like Tsimi, "HIKV Does Not Exist!!!!
It's simply a figment of Rusty's over active imagination.:)
And that brings me into how my little collection was generated.

It was simple curiosity that got me started after buying more than a couple which were a 15" & 18" AK.
Reading the results of the performances of other knives made me want to see for myself if I could get the same performance as well as how each individual knife felt to me.
I've thought about selling off some of my collection and if I did the ones I would sell would be the more later khuks with the thinner edges, But the ones I have have been tested and found to be good knives or have chipped out a rather large piece of the edge and been repaired so as to be a decent knife.
I bemoan the new and thinner edges and constantly wish for a return to the full convex edge bevel the older knives had.
And who knows I may sell some off someday, Raghorn is getting my horn handled YCS, but that's it for now.
I find it rather difficult to give up any knife that has withstood my testing and had rather pass them on to family and friends.:)
But not real soon as it's much like loseing a long time friend.:(

Wow alot of interesting stories, including personal descriptions of the fabled HIKV. So Mr. Wannabe researcher, where exactly do I mail these khuks:rolleyes: :p :D

Well, Sher's back so there's hope. The stuff I've gotten from him came with a modified flat-grind that i was able to round to full convex edge. My GS is much slimmer, almost hollow ground, thus I don't do extreme cutting tests with it. I could shave a Yak at 30 paces with it tho.

Of all the HI khuks I have, each is a bit unnique in edge profile and geometry. I can respect that, as each khuk seems to have an edge suited to its design. (I do wish the YCS I had was more convex in grinnd, tho)

"Fortunately, I managed to distract Tisimi's bats long enough to close the deal"

...don't look now N2S :D

ROTFLMAO

Bill you captured that perfectly. You have to be careful down here, especially if you show up with a Durba. Tisimi's minons are everywhere.

I can guarantee you the wooden model had a full convex edge bevel.

Like I've said before, "The first YCS had a really thin edge that broke out a chunk about 1 3/8" long or so and about 3/16" or so deep."
Further models were thicker over all, but the edge on the model was never done in steel.:grumpy:

I do have to say that after I took the edge down to make it look right which also made the edge convex it has been a wonderful performer.

Wait a minute since when did MR. Wannabe researcher start hoarden Piha Khetta's (me no spell good)? Or did you bring that with you N2S to storm the cave?:D Ill have to call Grandpa over to help storm the cave:D

Mostly, I have a list of Khuks I've read about on the list, that are billed to have certain performance specs. I need to get one to test out. Then, occasionally a good PGA comes up, and I get an itch, or it sits for a few days and I feel like it needs a good home. That's how I ended up with a Sher BAS, and it's just a bang-up little knife.

Grandpa just got kicked outa the home, I guess he was stealing too many puddings and other acts of nursing home piracy, so I gotta bring him out and let him get some fresh air:eek: :D
