How do you guys (and girls) polish your brass pommels? I’ve tried a few things including my dremel tool but nothing was entirely effective. There are still patches of tarnished metal that I just can’t clean. Please help me before I do something stupid.

I used a dremel, and put a nice scratch in my Buck 110's pommel. Go to the hardware store and buy a bottle of Flitz brass/nickel polisher. Put a little of that stuff on a rag, and rub it in and wipe it off. It works wonders.

polish brass?
I was in the Navy, but stationed at an Army base for a while. I used to watch the Army guys polishing brass. I never understood the fetish.
For knives- Flitz.

Brasso and a rag + elbow grease. It's worked for many years on lots of tarnished brass...

I'll second Mothers. Much better than Brasso in my experience but I think those years in the Army might have something to do with my attitude towards Brasso LOL.

I use mothers mag wheel polish. It works really well.

When I was in the Army, I found some stuff called "AutoWenol" that was fantastic. Don't know if it's still around, but but that stuff would flat SHINE brass! It came in a tube, probably similar to Flitz.

You have to be really careful when polishing with a Dremel tool. Too much pressure in one spot and too little in another spot will result in two different finishings on your brass. As far as to what to use, I use some of the above products mentioned, but have also used automobile polishing compound with excellent results on brass.
