How do you polish brass

How do you guys (and girls) polish your brass pommels? I’ve tried a few things including my dremel tool but nothing was entirely effective. There are still patches of tarnished metal that I just can’t clean. Please help me before I do something stupid.

What kind of compound are you using with the Dremel? Using a Dremel to polish brass seems a bit extreme unless you want to get rid of scratches. Brasso is good for brass but for all around (brass, copper, silver, gold) Flitz or Simichrome are very good and they protect a bit longer.
