I have an emerson and a ZT with coated blades, and I want to remove the coatings. Is it duracoat? If so what are some of the best methods for removing it?

Neither Emersons nor ZTs use Duracoat. A quick check of their websites would have told you this. And there're plenty of threads on how to remove blade coatings already out there.

It is not Duracoat on the ZT. It is Diamond DLC coating. This is an inorganic layer, not a paint. Paint strippers won't work. Abrasive methods will be difficult, but would be your only option.

Emerson says they use Cerakote, which appears to be phenolic based and might be somewhat amenable to paint stripper. But the MSDSs don't actually show the total chemistry, so I am basing my comment on the parts which are visible. And phenolics are notoriously hard to remove, so don't get your hopes up.

media blast with 120 grit aluminum oxide. It will come right off. Then refinish with whatever you are wanting to use. I of course will say Cerakote! :)

Glass bead in a little sandblast machine...Maybe a tumbler used in reloading, mine has a corn cob media in it..

80 grit sandpaper and elbow grease.
