How do you remove the wave?

If you have a black balde you can polish the whole spine to "cover up" the removed wave area.
It actually looks OK and is easier to do that refinishing the whole blade to a satin or beadblast finish.

I am with Rolf on this one. To me, de-waving an Emerson is like gelding a fine race horse. I have never had an Emerson fail to wave open when I needed it, nor have I forgotten to cover the tip when I don't want to wave it. Through use, these things become second nature. Now, an Emerson designed without a wave is a whole other story. ;)

I don't like the wave either. It has no practical value to me. It's opened my knife a few times when I didn't expect it by getting snagged in my pocket, resulting in a cut one time. I wish my CQC-7 didn't have it but it's a black blade and it would look crappy with the stainless contrast of a removed wave.

I do know what you mean.

While I indeed outright bought my CQC7-A sans Wave because I wanted to have a knife that opened when I wanted it to, I absolutely love my Waved Mini 7 for EDC.

My stonewashed spearpoint 7 is definitely the piece I'm going to bring along on a camping trip, (as its blade length exceeds locals laws and it's certainly more of a beauty piece - plus, the standard 7 is too big to fit in the pocket of my favorite pair of jeans) I absolutely love the Wave and the knowledge that it's going to be right there when I need it to be.

If EKI ever does a Mini 7 frame-lock, well, that is my 'grail' blade in my mind right now.

Here's to hoping. :)
