How do you rotate your carry?

I'm a daily rotator, and a bit of an accessory nerd...I have about 8-12 folders, and 4-5 fixed blades. If I'm carrying in a nice traditional brown leather holster, I carry a wood handled folder and a Bark River in a matching leather. If Im carrying in a black rig, I go G-10 or Ti folder, micarta fixed blade, etc. Otherwise I pick a knife proper for the day's activities.

I would say that my Dobson Shallot, Ti Leek, P'Kal, BM530, JYDII CPMD2, BRKT Gunny and RAT-3 D2 get the most play time.

Luckily I have many many more waiting in the wings if any of those get old or if I just want something random.

1 or 2 layer SAK at the office.

Spyderco Military or old-school M2HS Benchmade AFCK on the weekend.

Beater Native III at the beach.

Paramilitary lounging around at home.

I don't I have a big coat that has all of my knives clipped to the inside, plus about four in my shoes and eight around my belt, five in my pockets. :p

But seriously, I look at my knives until I see one that's standing out for that day, and take that one with me.

I have a 2 year old.

"Wanna pick a knife for dad?"

My 2 year old loves my Izula. I have to remind him to leave the sheath on. :D

My EDC is usually the same. Izula on the neck and skeletool cx clipped to my right front pocket. Sometimes at work I'll add a larger belt sheath fixed blade. On my off time It's usually the Izula and either the skeletool or a delica. On sundays at church it's the Izula and a parker mustang in my pocket because it just doesn't seem right to have a clip on my sunday pants.

LOL I do this too. My kids are 3 and 4 and I usually pick two or three and let them take turns deciding what Daddy is gonna carry.

In Current Rotation:

(one of these)
Emerson CQC10
Emerson Commander
Spyderco Military
And always a Boker SubCom paired with the choice.

The only dedicated EDC is the SubCom for work. I work in a hospital as a nurse and need something small and sheeple friendly. I've been eying an Emerson Mini A100 for this role.

I usually rotate knives depending on what I am doing at different times of the day, at work, at home, out n' about, etc, etc.
I have a large "hibernation" bag for my off-rotation knives and a "active" shelf for my active-in-rotation knives.
About every two weeks the knives on my active shelf are rotated back to my hibernation bag and fresh knives are taken out of my hibernation bag and put onto the active shelf.
Approximately eight to ten knives are on my active shelf at one time, most folders, one slippie and one to two fixed blades.
Every two weeks I decide which array of knives that will be active for daily / hourly choosing and my other knives are locked in a secure place.
The only knife that is constant-out is a S2 Leatherman Juice that stays in my right front pocket.
When I get a new knife it is usually on the active shelf for a while before rotating it into the hibernation bag.
Anyway.. this is the system I use and I get very much enjoyment out of my many knives while protecting the largest part of them from theft.

I guess I'm the oddball. I don't rotate. My dedicated carry knives are a Spyderco Paramilitary and Victorinox Soldier.

That's not to say I never carry any other knives. When I'm dressed up or on vacation, I typically carry a Buck 503 or old Boker Stockman that belonged to my great-uncle.

But 99% of the time, my carry knives are the same... time or place doesn't matter.

Its the whole reason to have kids! That and lawn mowing in a few years...

not to sound too fruity or anything, but it really depends on what the day's chores and clothes are.

Yard work = Case Sodbuster, Buck 301, Schrade Old Timer, etc
Jeans/Shorts = Plain Sebenza, BM 940, Caly 3, Buck Vantage Pro, etc. etc.
Slacks = Sm LE Sebenza, BM 440, Klotzli Sarra, etc. etc.
Suit & Tie = haven't figured that out yet....Mnandi maybe?

This gives me the idea that I can always find an occasion to suit the knife I want.

I agree

-Outdoor activities, hunting, fishing: Case sodbuster jr, Buck 112, or one of my SAK's
-Work, church, formal occasion: Case medium stockman
-Public outing, movies, mall, anywhere with a crowd or strangers: One of my tactical folders
-Just hangin at the house: Case sodbuster jr, or a SAK

I think all knives have an intended purpose, place, and time. ;)

Edit: I really like this thread

I used to just use whatever knife I felt like. Over time I noticed I kept going back to certain blades. I think it was about 5 folders. Sadly I lost my job and had to sell some for bills etc. Not I just have 3 edc knives:

BM 710 (Krein regrind)
Spyderco para
Lg seb 21 (Away to be fixed :( )

When I get a new folder, I would add it to the rotation above and sell or trade away the one I use or like the least. Ive decidd ill never have more than 3 edcs and no safe queens. Ill also probably have 3 or so fixed blades as well.
I also have a multitool, but thats more of a regular tool to me than a knife:)

Since I refuse to carry a man purse, I am left with what I can carry on me. At work, I always carry my Schrade ClipHanger and LM SuperTool. I usually have a SAK Famrer at hand too. When I am out and about or at school, I will carry my M-16, Kasper, or something else, with a LM Charge and SAK Esquire. The only time I really rotate is for outdoors activities because I have multiple fixed blades to run through and play with so I just grab one and go.

Whatever's newest just gets the most pocket time for me. But still, depending on where I'm going or doing, I will pick out specific knives. I carry little knives to school (college) and larger knives elsewhere. The Para-Mili is my newest knife atm, so it's my current default, but it's too big for school, however I carry it if I think I'll be cutting a lot.

I've got a Stretch 2 though that arrived before the Para, but I had to send in to Spyderco, and when that gets back I've no doubt it'll be my main for a long while.
