So I am having a hard time saving my cash for a Para2, I am at the point where I can afford another knife I want and it is so tempting to just buy the other one. :p How do you all make yourselves save for your next purchase? Its so hard lol

My mini grip helps me out. As long as I have it, I'll never feel like I NEED another knife. That way I only buy knives that I really really want, since I know I won't carry them as much anyways :p

I don't save. I just move what I already have. Spending over 400 $ was the hardest but yesterday I dropped about 2k on one knife that went easy. Again I didn't spend money that I haven't already spent. I'd rather have 5 1000 $ customs than 50 100 $ knives. So if you have for example already 2000 $ tied up in your collection then you could afford a 2000 $ knife.

I've saved for two and a half months. my bali, I would be weak without my bali...

Its easy for me to save my knife money for the stuff in the 250-1000 dollar range without getting distracted by other knives because pretty much NOTHING on the market today under 250 appeals to me LOL

I use a specific account and set aside a set amount each pay check. Makes it easy.

I use the knives I currently have and also fondle the hell out of them. Bali's and flippers are great for this. I love my self a nice flipper. I also have extreme self control and when I put something in my head I want to save for then I do it. I am on no buying streak right now and will be for quite sometime as I need to save money for various things. This is why I have been scouring the forums looking for trades for the last few items I have for trade (Trades with no cash involved is great when you are short on money, just have to pay for shipping). I also want to save up to buy a membership (It made me a little mad that the rates went up however).

If I want a new knife (<$200), I buy it. Stuff over $500 pretty much doesn't happen these days.

haven't been buying any knives lately. i've been happy with the few under $50 knives i have and trying to save to get ahead a little.
i pretty much window shop. :D

Just put your money in a different savings account, at a different bank than the one your using.

I do sort of a variation on this.

If I'm saving up for a knife and find one I want in the meantime I usually buy it. Worst case I end up not liking it and sell it for a small loss.

If you are saving.... the envelope method works very well for me ($20 this week, $50 the next and zero the next). It adds up. It's your money and of course if you change your mind, you can use it for anything you want. The key is to separate it from other money used for monthly expenses.

To save for long term purchases I set up a savings account at a local bank with direct deposit, do not have a checking account or cash card at the same bank.

Then the only way to get the money is to actually go to the bank. Keeps down the impulse buying.

I've used a variation of this. Every time I get a $5 bill, it gets put in an envelope in my desk drawer. I don't bother counting it until the envelope starts feel chubby. Hell, I bought my last pistol that way.

Eyes on the prize my friend. I've been down that road with other vices, and all I ended up with was a bunch of sub par stuff, in relation to what I really wanted. That PM2 will be worth it. In the mean time, as others have said, trade something off, for that new knife feel.

I hope you end up buying a Para. It's a fantastic knife.
