How do YOU sharpen 154 cm?

The same way I sharpen everything else. Reprofile on DMT XX course then hone the edge or microbevel on a DMT fine.

I use a Sharpmaker. If I'm going to rebevel an edge, I'll use the SHarpmaker stones with wet/dry paper clipped to them. 154CM is tough and takes a fine edge, but it requires no "special" stones or hones, like Donny Bee said.

I convex every 154CM I own. It loves a nice curve to the edge better than any other steel I have used, followed closely by A2 or D2.

THanks for the replies, it seems everyone has a different touch when it comes to sharpening the tougher steels and I just wanted to see the differences

I still use the good, old 501 Tri-Angle Sharpmaker for the simple stuff---DMT diamond bench stones for the more complicated stuff (e.g. reprofiling, et al.).

I never get an edge that I am truly happy with on 154 CM. I do best using diamond hones. It has a coarse carbide structure and is inferior if you like low angle ultrafine razor edges. Its advantage is long edge holding.

Everyone thought I was retarded for asking this but I count 5 different ways people use to sharpen this knife...

Pay $5 for a guy to do it for me, lmao...I'm a monkey when it comes to sharpening..:o

Ahh bro... You can't call a knife yours unless you sharpen it yourself!

When I started selling knives, this ol boy asked me "how do you sharpen your knives?" and I said "I don't. I let someone do it for me" At that he lauged at me and told me what I just told you. I learned quickly after that. Glad I did too.

I didn't get the impression anyone thought you were retarded. You could this same question about any steel and get at least this many answers. You asked: "How do you sharpen (insert steel type here_________)".

Frankly, I'm surprised you got only five different ways. I didn;t go back through to count them...maybe there were seven or eight different ways.

In the end though, Nathan, 154CM, while it's my favorite stainless, isn;t really a "special" steel when it comes to sharpening. It might take a little more time and care than say 440C or 1095, but not so much as to be bothersome. You can bring up a fine, razor edge with standard sharpening equipment.
