How do YOU sharpen 154 cm?

I was mainly looking for different methods of sharpening because all the ones I have tried haven't gotten that razor edge on them

Nathan, I don;t know your sharpening skill or prowess, but as has been said 154CM needs no special technique or specialty stones. So, if you haven;t been able to get it sharp...............................

On my EDC folder I just use a diamond plate(600 grit), and strop on plain leather to make sure the burr is gone. The grit is coarse enough to slice through rope effectively, but still makes great wood shavings for fire starting!

If you don't know how to sharpen yet, practice on a cruddy blade until you get the hang of it, then proceed with your good knives.:)

i would have to say my problem with getting a good edge is probly my equiptment... right now my sharpening gear is made up or a 15 year old walmart wet stone and one of those handles you drag the blade through... i really need to get something soon

...and therein may lie the problem(s)........ either equipment, or technique, or both...
(:D)

I have an old combo Norton Crystolon/India stone that I use for changing edge bevels. After I change the bevel angle I use a Sharpmaker. This has worked well for 154CM, VG10, 440C, et. al.

Currently I am playing with DMT coarse and fine stones (got them to fool with some D2). But I find I am going to have to get the extra coarse and the extra fine to match what I get with the current setup.

That is to say: Aluminum Oxide stones work nicely on 154CM.

how is the sharpmaker with serrations?

I've never liked sharpening serrations, but it is designed to sharpen them.

I use a croc stick (similar to a Sharpmaker) for retouching. (Ceramic rods) I use my Lansky if it's anything serious (lost edge, reprofile, etc).

my sharpmaker can bring my SE tenacious back to razor sharp in less than 20 strokes, the SM works GREAT for SE or PE. I sharpen Every knife I own on it, just did my BM722 after I got it in a trade, put a fine edge on it, although I need to spend a little more time on the pointy end of the tanto blade :)
