How do you sharpen your Benchmades?

I'm pretty new to the Benchmade scene. I've tended to carry traditionals or cheaper modern folders (that I didn't care about). I'm curious what sharpeners/methods do you use to to get the most out of your Benchmades?

Spyderco Tri-angle Sharpmaker. But many or most BM knives ship with a grind angle > 40 degrees inclusive, so you'll need the extra diamond stones to re profile to 40

No different than any other knife. Stones, ceramic, Sharpmaker, Edge Pro, Strop.

Edge Pro Apex for me. I maintain it on my Sharpmaker and will be using a strop when they arrive.

Edge Pro Apex and a stop. I don't have the narrow EPA stones yet so I break out the wetstones for recurves and my machete.

If you aren't confident sharpening your own knives just mail them off to Benchmade. Sure it takes a month... but your knife gets the whole spa treatment while it's out there.

or practice on your cheapies, I've never sent a knife to be sharpened, never will, or at least I don't plan to. If you actually use your knives, investing in learning how to sharpen will make them much more enjoyable.

And that's exactly what I'm trying to do. I can put a pretty good edge on a Case with their Carbon or Stainless by hand but both are relatively soft steels. I wanted to find the most effective way to bring the best out of my knives.

All of the systems mentioned are good and will work... with the right technique and a level of comfort with that system. Bringing the best out of your knives is going to depend as much, or more, on your technique and comfort level with the system you choose. Pick the system that seems to fit you and your needs best and practice, practice, practice...

Remember that there's no magic bullet. Sharpening requires technique no matter what you use, and technique requires a commitment to learn, and practice, and learn some more.

Blue/Red DMT 8" stone for initial and re- profilings, then Sharpmaker, then strop

I only have a Sharpmaker and it works great on most knives. I have to hold my Benchmades at a modified angle to account for the obtuse edge they put on there or I just rub the shoulder. I need to learn how to reprofile lol
